Inuyasha was too repetitive to me. It had great potential but they just kept sucking it for what it was worth, finally sucking it dry, going too far with the filler episodes. It never progressed in the story and it had a fitting end due to this.
Dragonball Z was fun as a kid to watch. Interesting kidsy story lines and basic human emotions like fear, hate and compassion, but it doesn't have enough substance to make the cut as a 'better anime'.
Cowboy Bebop was really good, as was Trigun. They both had good story lines due to their creativity and substance.
I didn't like FLCL, but I suppose artistic wise it was creative.
I've not seen Bleach or Star Ocean EX and have only seen parts of Outlaw Star so I won't comment on those.
I've only seen some of Ranma, but it was cr*p in my opinion. Yet another show that was going to lead on and on without any real progress taking place and if there was it was only to keep viewers interested. I truely dispise Rumiko Takahashi's work. : /
Sooo personally wise and artistic wise, I choose FMA. I've explained in a few other places in this guild why I think it's one of the best anime's and I don't want to get repetitive.
