Jungle is the Amen break repeated over and over with stoned Jamaicans making noises over it. Oh, and really drawn-out, farting sounds trying to pass for basslines.[/bashing]
Just to have this here...Consider it to be under construction. Note that I don't actually know much about dnb/jungle, so you guys will have to correct me. I'll fix this once actual information appears in this thread.
What is Jungle, version 0.0.1:
Jungle is the child of ragga and breakbeat. Also known as drum and bass (although it is arguable that there is a difference), its defining characteristic is the drumline, which, by and large, is a high-speed breakbeat, often either the Amen Break or the two-step. Jungle as a genre has a wide range of sounds, due to its habit of stealing ideas from other genres, not all of them electronic.
Jungle is the refuge for the stereotypical "jaded" raver who are escaping their trancecracker childhoods, although its stint as oldskool rave hardcore (aka Toytown) comes back to haunt it in the form of happycore converts.

huge difference between jungle and DnB... jungle has the ragga roots behind it, DnB progressed away from it
