I do not believe Mayuko is a spoiler to the series (since she comes in Volume 3), but if so -
there might be spoilers amok!
Okay, I've seen the entire series of Fruits Basket, and I am seriously wondering - what color hair is Mayu-sensei's? She isn't in the anime, so we cannot go off of that, and she doesn't have a colored picture (I'm kinda wondering about Naohito as well, but Mayu moreso). And unlike Kimi, where we can easily tell it's dark, Mayu could naturally have blonde, red, or brown hair! >.< It might not actually state her color in the series (I've seen the final chapter, but no scanlations have been produced at the present time to say if it was mentioned), but what do you guys think? Is she blonde? Red-head? Brunette? I personally believe it's a dirty-blondeish look, but at the same time I know that that's not natural if her origins are originally Japanese (aren't they?) >.<
So what do you guys think?

No her hair colour isn't mentioned in the final chapter. (Will continue to work on trans for the scanlations after my exams are over. ^^) It could be anything really. Even Machi who has dark brown hair doesn't have any shading. Nao's hair though is light brown:

Mayu-sensei first is shown in Volume 3. She is the teacher of Kyo, Yuki, Tohru, Hana-chan, and Uo-chan (she was the one who dared to dye Kyo's hair black). She was not in the anime. She is also in Volume 10 [spoilers] where the reader finds out that she is Kana's best friend and that she knows of the Mabudachi Trio. She has feelings for Hatori, but goes out with Shigure because the both of them are "lonely." This is all happening when Kana and Hatori are together. Mayu just wants her friends to be happy, so she stays out of it. Kana then freaks because she "hurt" Ha'ri, and Mayu realizes that the happiness between Hatori and Kana was lost forever. She broke up with Shigure after getting him to explain memory supression. Umm...you also find out she still has feelings for Ha'ri, and Shigure wants to get them together. Later volumes include her still as the teacher to the Sohma students and is buddies with Ayame (shown in Volume 12). She has a teacher appearence in vol. 13, and Shigure mentions her in vol. 16 to Hatori, but pretty much she's the one he'll end up with later in life (once he realizes that he doesn't have to dwell on the past)...[/spoilers] And woah...I know way too much about her, don't I? Anyway, her whole name is Shiraki Mayuko. A few called her Mayu. The students sometimes call her Mayu-sensei (as shown in Volume 5). She makes a joke by telling them to call her "Great Teacher Mayuko"...hope that helped! >.<

I knew instantly it was her, and I figured they were together! ^_^ Ha'ri and Mayu are my favorite couple, which is why I'm so mad that we never get to know her hair color (unless she'll be on a cover, but I don't think she's major enough for that). Speaking of covers, do you know where the opening picture for Vol. 21 is (with Ren)? A friend had told me she had seen it, but after that neither of us could find it! >.<

The cover or the morning picture? I can get the cover image for you but I followed the Hana to Yume so I'll ask around for the morning image.
