((For my character, this encounter will take place before she left for route 1))
Today was rather... dull, to say the very least. The blue-haired trainer wasn't exactly thrilled about not having anything to do, despite Ropin's lazy attitude. Out of sheer boredom she had found a rather secluded area behind her family's house, and had released her pokeball from its place at her hip. If she couldn't find something to do, she might as well train. Right? Of course! She was fairly sure no one would stumble upon this place, and thus it was safe to actually try training out in the open of the middle of the day. Placing the pokeball between her index finger and thumb she let it slip out and there popped... a rather confused bulbasaur. Okay, she had just caught him the other day, but she was certain it'd be alright to work with him for a bit, and hopefully get a feel for what type of pokemon she was dealing with now. "Okay, Raiz? Yes, Raiz. That's your name now", she explained with a firm nod of her head. The bulbasaur had given her a rather unfriendly look, but Ropin merely pushed her blue-tinted sunglasses further up her nose to hide a glare that the sun was throwing towards her pale eyes. But the question was... now what?

Michiko glanced around Smallwave in a bore manner, for she had grown up in a big city, and now that she was here, it seemed there was nothing to do. Sure, she could go do whatever the locals did all day, but surely she would get bored doing that... right?
The idea of her having fun with anything the stupid locals did here obviously amused the young woman, for she shook her head slightly with laughter, her long navy hair swaying like a snake charmer's serpent as she laughed. She realized that she was making a fool out of herself; laughing for no apparent reason, so she smoothed down her extremely puffy dress, then brushed an annoyingly curly piece of hair out of her eyes.
Briefly, she began to think about her pokemon that her dad had given her; the Kolibrisk. It was very cute; that was for sure! And it meant she could finally head out from home! She could leave her annoying parents and get the hell out! 'Pardon my French, of course.' she thought to herself. Speaking of French, if she headed out to start an adventure, she wouldn't have to take those damned Spanish lessons anymore!
She groaned, "Maaan, I'm getting off-thought again!" Rolling her eyes skyward, she made a mental pact not to talk to herself again, especially not in front of her new Pokemon or anyone who she respected. However, she soon forgot the promise, talking to herself sheerly out of boredom. Suddenly, she heard a voice, one that she hadn't heard before.
In a way, that was surprising, since the population of this stupid little town seemed to be about... TWENTY people who lived there year-round. Of course, she knew there were more than that, but did she care? No. All that mattered was how it felt to her at that moment.
In a way though, it didn't surprise her. Though her family had moved to Smallwave a few months before, she hadn't really made any efforts to get to know anyone. It just didn't seem to matter to her whether she was well like or not.
She began to walk towards the voice, her hand on her pokéball belt for some strange reason, though it wasn't like anyone would attack her in THIS town. . . ...So you'd better listen. <3

Ropin N. Riden, a compact woman of about 17 years of age, and a resident of this small town. Oh she's been here for all her life, never knowing anything of the world outside of this place, except for her occasional trips to see her cousin who had gone on some 'journey' apparently. Even if she did live here though, people, her neighbors really, hardly ever got a good look at her, for reasons that Ropin liked to keep herself. Why? Humph, why be smothered with attention? Especially since she had graduated from school, and thus there was no reason to even be seen. Friends? Boys? The blue-haired trainer saw absolutely no point in crushing for someone's attention, despite the popularity she had while actually being at school.
With a flick of her wrist she sent the pokeball into the air before catching it, making careful note of her bulbasaur's intense gaze. Was he studying her? "Odd..." she muttered to herself, though went quiet when she heard a sort of rustle. Footsteps? Fabric? Turning her head slightly to the side, enough to look past the edge of the blue-tinted sunglasses and the strands of blue hair that covered half her face. It was a look she had created for herself. A reputation so to speak. Always Ropin wore tight black jeans, a black leather top that showed quite a bit of mid-drift, heavy boots, blue-tinted sunglasses, and always her low cut hair covered up half her face. The only emotion that could be seen on her was her lips, and normally they creased in straight line, not much of a hint to how she was feeling or her intentions. Glancing down to Raiz, who had also noticed the noise and was watching Ropin intently, once again she placed a hand on her hip and waited for whoever it was to come past the last corner. So much for private training.

Michiko paused at she heard no more noise, but decided to head in the direction she *thought* it had come from. She soon stood looking at a young woman about her own age, wearing just black and blue. She reminded Michiko of some sort of overripe or bruised blueberry...
But what was truly interesting about this person, was her Pokemon. She had a Bulbasaur with her, one that was fairly cute - well, for a Bulbasaur, anyway. She smiled, and wondered briefly if it would let her pet it, but then realized that she was being silly. It looked as though the woman, no, the trainer, had been just about to train her Pokemon.
Michiko smiled at her for a second, then asked, "Hey, may I watch you train?" Only once the words were out of her mouth did she realize how stupid-sounding they were.

What a surprise that had been, a young woman making her way over in a rather... large dress. Well, she couldn't really make a remark about how the other person dressed, considering Ropin wasn't much into fashion. Obviously. But the lazy trainer didn't make a move towards the other person, but in fact heard her words and raised an eyebrow slightly. It wasn't that this girl sounded stupid, but she had never heard quite a request before, much less had allowed anyone to even see her train. But she wasn't in the mood to argue either so Ropin just gave a tiny flick of a grin across her thin lips. "Sure, if you want to sit around and watch us, then I guess Raiz and I wouldn't mind", she spoke up, nodding in the direction of her devious little bulbasaur. Glancing back to the girl she pushed her blue-tinted sun glasses back up her nose, for they had slipped slightly. "Call me Ropin", she offered, flicking a few stray strands of blue hair from her vision. She hadn't missed the sight of a pokeball on the other girl's belt, Ropin just chose to ignore the fact.

She grinned, "Thanks! I'd really like to learn more about this training business. I know I'm old, but I've only recently gotten into it. Blushing, she couldn't BELIEVE that she had just admitted about not having been into the biggest fad in the world for most of her life. What a dunderhead she was!
She decided it was time to change the subject. "Raiz and Ropin are nice names... I'm Michiko, by the way. And I have a Kolibrisk named Zippy." 'I only just got her though,' she added mentally, 'so she's not very strong...'
She reached her right hand up to fiddle with her little watermelon earrings, mainly out of nervousness, for she didn't want to seem stupid.
Then, she had an idea. "Would you like to see Zippy?" ...So you'd better listen. <3

Nodding at the mention of training, Ropin had guessed as much by the sheer sight of the pokeball. Not many people, if any, carried such a thing as decoration, unless they were just asking for trouble. An odd trend that would be, and many frustrating encounters for trainers looking for a battle nonetheless. "Michiko", she repeated, rolling the name on her tongue a bit to get use to the sound. Laxily Ropin allowed her hand to slip from its position on her hip and into her pockets, trying to think of just what a kolibrisk might look like. Hmm, it was an interesting thought considering the trainer herself hadn't seen much pokemon asides from the ones that had come to this small town, and what she had learned in her schooling years. Nope, she couldn't recall hearing of any pokemon called kolibrisk.
It was while Ropin was in obvious thought, that the little devil Raiz had taken to inching closer to this... watermelon female. Perhaps it was Ropin's diverted attention, or maybe he would have just done it anyway, but without any supervision the bulbasaur was well on his way towards the other girl, eyes intense and calculating. This could be trouble...
"Oh sure! I've never seen a kolibrik before, so I'm kinda curious to see what it looks like", Ropin said with a nod. Unfortunatly it hadn't come to her attention that she had taken her eyes away from her untrained, unpracticed, and even unfamilar bulbasaur until it was just a foot away from Michiko. "Raiz", Ropin said with a slight tone of warning, not entirely sure what this little guy was up to. Oh she had seen his eyes before, always watching what was going on, and seemingly more intellegent then they should have been for any pokemon. She looked to Michiko to see her reaction, and hoped this little encounter wouldn't take a turn for the worst.

Michiko squealed at the sight of the cute little Bulbasaur near her, for it truly was cute, now that she looked at it in more detail. She reached down her hand to pet it, smiling at the cute little thing. "Awww, aren't you just so amazing? I should have you meet Zippy!"

Very carefully Ropin kept a practiced eye on her new friend, and remembered the day she and her pidgey had caught it. Such a little devil he had been! It seemed to the trainer like he had calculated each and every move, attempting to flee when it was really fighting the entire time! A little trickster, he had come to be known as to Ropin, and a devious mind that she had deal with from now on. When she saw that Raiz, after an uncertain leap backwards from the sudden movement, finally came forward and allowed Michiko to pet him, Ropin relaxed with a heavy sigh. "I think he'd like that", Ropin agreed, watching her bulbasaur's every reaction.
Though it was while on the subject of pokemon and the like, that Ropin began to wonder about Michiko. Obvious she was a trainer, or at least she had a pokemon, and that led Ropin to beleive that just maybe this girl had plans. Or perhaps, where had she gotten this kolbrisk? "Raiz, my bulbasaur, was recently caught a few days ago. I wasn't sure how he'd react to training. How long have you had Zippy?" she questioned with a hint of curiousity. Leaning back against the brick wall of her family's home, Ropin placed her folded arms behind her head and rested there for a moment, certain that there was no danger in allowing Raiz to meet up with another pokemon.

She smiled lovingly at the Bulbasaur, "Raiz's amazing!" Then, she pulled the pokeball from her belt, and pressed the little button, with no exceedingly silly gesture or throwing method.
With a flash of red light, a little yellow bird came flying out, calling out, "BRIIIIISK! KOLIIIII! KOLI KOLI!!!" The bright green spots on its wings shone brightly in the wings, the individual feathers glistening. She had obviously spent a long time getting it clean that morning so it would be in immaculate shape.
After making its dramatic entrance, it glanced around, then, upon noticing Bulbasaur, it screeched out loudly, then dive-bombed it, though not in a violent manner, but rather a friendly one. ...So you'd better listen. <3

Very interested in this pokemon Ropin had never heard of before, she kept a careful watch through the blue-tint of her sunglasses. Ropin had never taken them off in public, even in school, and though that earned her the reputation of a punk or a 'cool' kid, she remained steady in her views. The glasses were to never be removed. Suddenly when the bird like pokemon came out, Ropin couldn't help but grin. "Zippy sure is... well zippy", she chuckled slightly as she watched the reaction of her Raiz to the friendly gesture.
The bulbasaur had been very surprised at the loud enterance, but nonetheless had called out with a hearty, "BULBA! Bulba-saur!" as if pleased to find a new 'friend'.
Tilting her head slightly, Ropin curiously watched her bulbasaur as it playfully jumped away from the little divebomb. It seemed to the trainer that her little devil was quite interested in playing around, judging by the intense look in those eyes of his. Huh, now that was just kinda funny. She turned back to Michiko and grinned. "I think they'll be fine. What kind of pokemon is Zippy" she asked. She had guessed by its yellow coloring that it was probably an electric time, not to mention the name Zippy, but she wanted to make sure.

Zippy dive-bombed Bulbasaur again, this time feinting to the left before diving right. It spiraled up and down, trying to confuse it, when it suddenly streaked earthwards towards earth.
"Yeah, they seem to be getting along really well! I'm surprised that Zippy's this friendly! She attacked me the other day when I first got her as a present... Oh, and to answer your question, she's an electric flying type."

((No prob))
Flicking the very tip of her blue-tinted sunglasses downward, the lazy trainer gazed at the seen before her with the very tip of icy pale eyes showing past the rim of her emotion barrier, the glasses. She just hoped this little show of play didn't turn into anything more, after all she didn't need any rivals or grudges among trainers. Why? They were simply to bothersome to deal with. Shrugging the thought away Ropin again returned her gaze to Michiko. "Ah, that's an interesting combination", Ropin noted. The differences in the types in any normal pokemon would have caused the electric type to dominate over the flying type. But with the two rolled into one Ropin guessed Zippy had some sort of resistance to electric attacks. She smirked at the thought. Very clever indeed. "A present? Wow, I got my first pokemon as a present too a few years back. Its a pidgey my cousin got me", she shrugged a bit at the thought. "He went off to become some hot shot trainer..." she concluded, thinking to herself, and thanks for leaving me behind sorry son of a-. Smallwave town was proving to be very uneventful, and Ropin was having problems with her family at the moment. "So how long have you been in Smallwave town?" she asked, changing the subject a little bit as she watched the two pokemon.
Bulbasaur was tricky by nature, so such a show truely interested him. Watching the full extent of Zippy's movements he made no attempt to follow them with dodges of his own, but instead had reared up when Zippy dived, in a mock attack, but would do nothing to actually make harmful contact with the bird.

She grinned, for she knew how it felt to receive a pokemon as a gift. It was so much fun having your own pokemon! Someone who was always there for you, always listening even if they couldn't talk back!
"I've been in Smallwave for about three months. It seems like forever though. There's nothing to DO around here!" Then, she realized that Ropin was probably from this town. "Errr, no offense or anything. I'm just used to the big city. About your cousin," she said, trying to change the subject, "what types of Pokemon did he like? And how much of a hotshot was he? Don't you want to become a trainer?"
Zippy dived and dodged, swooped and soared, until finally she was extremely tired. She landed softly on Michiko's shoulder, pecking at her cheek affectionately. Michiko grinned, and patted Zippy on the head. BIG mistake! Zippy squawked loudly, and let out a huge electrical shock, zapping Michiko to the bones. ...So you'd better listen. <3

Ropin pondered over how many faces, new and old, she had seen in the town throughout the years. It seemed people were just moving all over the place, heck most of her best friends were gone by now. Hence why Ropin was such a recluse now a days. "Meh, he was mostly into fire types, oddly enough. Cuz he absolutely hated it when we had fires in the fireplace", she shrugged a bit, pushing the memory away. How dare he abandon her! "Myself? Oh I'm planning on it, not a hotshot really, but I want to be able to stand up for myself in battle", she spoke, her words carried off into space when she noticed the shock Zippy had just admited. "Oh... my. Are you alright?"
Raiz too had become tired, and though he didn't share the same affection as Zippy to return to Ropin so eagerly, he nearly toppled over in a sort of pokemon laughter when the human got shocked.
