hey peoples, this is my log where Im going to post how my lessons are going, but Im only going to post about once a week, after my lesson so on sunday evening or monday afternoon expect new posts.
Im in begginer lessons and starting off on a lunge line so comments are welcome and appreciated. sorry in advance if it looks weird.....
Sunday *1/7/07*
So today was my first official lesson, Ive been riding before but only a couple of times at a week long camp.
I met Sharon the trainer, and Rheged the arabian horse. Both are very nice, and Rheged is very handsome.
I got a new helmet and I loooove it, because its mine. Now I dont have to borrow a helmet.
Well anyways, we went through tacking up and grooming, although I already knew how, it was a runthrough to show me where all of his equipment is.
Then we started out on a lunge at a walk, just so she could see my seat and position to help me better it.
That was very weird, she teaches a "toes in, heels down" rule, instead of the usual heels down, so by the end of the lesson my ankles were screaming.
Well that gives me some homework then now doesnt it?
Then we worked on my seat positioning, like to seat on my seat bones instead of perching up like I did.
She also explained something about a triangle, although I didnt really get it that much.
maybe you guys can help me with that she said something along the lines of "together your seat bones form a triangle, and you want to sit on the bottom 2 ends of it fully, with only light contact on the point".
yea, I dont get that.....
anyways, then I met the owner, donna, and she was very nice.
well thats all for now, I cant wait to go back next sunday!!

*Sunday 1/14/07*
so, as you may or may not know I get to take lessons now! but only like 16 of them because I got a grant and when the money runs out, no more lessons.
so yay! second lesson today! yay, I love lessons their so fun and I get to be around horses for an hour!
today I got to ride a different horse, a belgian qh cross named Maizey.
shes cool, a lot bigger than Rheged though (hes an arabian.) and a lot more shedding hair.
anyways, we did walking again on the lunge but we did balancing exercises those were cool. you know the kind, hands on your head, hands on your thighs, etc.
so I learned how to better my seat and posture, and she said that maybe in 2 lessons she'll bump us up to trotting!
well it might not seem much to you guys, after all, its trotting on a lunge line. but to me its great because that means that I"ll finally learn to trot correctly and I wont hate it so much anymore. and it also means that Im a little bit closer to getting off the lunge line!
and guess what?!?! my ankles didnt hurt at all this time and my legs have gotten stronger!
I also might be able to get a job there to pay off my lessons!
woohoo, life is good!
