I wonder to myself, Im all "Self, why are Gaz's eyes closed most of the time and yet she can see...?"
and to that i replied "Because she can..."

And so I as you all "Really, why are they?"

I can answer that in one word: ME.

My eyes are open and I can see, but about 85% of the time they look like they're closed. Maybe it's part of her stormy, angry nature that they must look closed to give a more menacing look. And I do think that Gaz looks more menacing with her eyes nearly slitted like they are than when she actually opens them (reserved for true emotion only, you know...pizza and Game Slave).

its because shes asain, all the membrains are, you cant tell with the other family members because they wear glasses.

They're not closed, she's merely squinting,
at least that's what I always thought =P

Where did you come up with that they're asian?
Of course, since it's never mentioned it cold be a possibility...
but Gaz doesn't look very asian with violet hair and amber eyes.
And their last name isn't Membrane (and certainly not Membrain),
it's the Professor's first name

she's squinting and she can see becaus ethey have ben liek that sence she was born also her other had squinted eyes so it's genes really also i guess something in her brain that causes it

from jhonen vasquez me and him email each other and every few weeks he gets around to answering my questions and i have asked that, and they are asian, and i know their name isn't really membrain but thats what their familey is reffered to by jhonen himself.
