Bought it today. played a few hours worth. In mintaka right now. And from my experiences and from what I've seen online, I am wholy disappointed. I much prefered the original battle system over this pile of stinky crap covered pieces of paper they call a card battle system. And three characters? Come on!! You can do better than that. Anyway, like I said, I'm barely into and here's to hoping it proves me wrong.

I'll probably be playing this one next, once I'm done with Rhapsody. How's the plot so far?

The plot so far is the only thing I'm giving high marks. As in 10/10. Sound is better. They've a couple of cool things here and there. One thing I like about in this games is that the wings are justn't for show any more. She jumps instead of going up and down ladders and can leap across small gps. You also have the Wing Dash which lets you go faster for a certain amount of time.

Heh, for me, this means I'll love the game, regardless of whether it's fun to actually play or not.

Now playing it myself. Yeah, you're not kidding about the battle system sucking in comparison to the first game. Why do companies have to always change something that works already?

Oh well. The plot is, indeed, pretty cool. So all is forgiven.

Its like they took all the flaws from the first one and built a new system around it.

My question is, with a new budget and years' advances on technology, why, why, WHY does the sound quality for the voice acting STILL make them sound like they're talking through glass fishbowls that they're wearing on their heads?
PostPosted: Thu Jan 11, 2007 9:01 am

I always describe it as them talking into a tin can.

I think its better than it was, but its still annoying. I like how Guillo sounds though.

Better, yes, but sucky still. I agree on Guillo, but that's the thing--the actual voice acting itself is fine, and awesome in Guillo's case; it's just the quality of the sound for it that's sucky.

Yeah. Yeah, but wih of course the excpetion of Xelha, everything about her is annoying.

I've never really seen what the problem with Xelha is. Sure, she's not a particularly great or memorable character, but she was never a bad enough one to bug me as she does most others, either.

Her voice always gets me and her attitude is rather typical and is just annoying.

Update for anyone interested: once you get the hang of the new battle system (IF you ever really do), it's not so terrible.

Other Update: The voices seem to get a little better sound quality as time goes on (or you just get used to it).

Last Update: As with BK1, the story's fairly average for a while, but late in the game a few plot twists suddenly make everything AWESOME.

Well thats nce to know. If the twists are anything like BK's then it will all be worth it.

Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnd done. Great googly moogly, even an RPG this great shouldn't take 93 hours to complete. But it was certainly worth it. Man, there is NOTHING like a good, solid prequel, I tell you--BK2 lives up to its Origins title, while still having a GREAT story of its own that isn't just about setting up its predecessor-successor. Anyone who liked the original NEEDS to play this game, and anyone who didn't play either needs to get their butts in gear. Good to start with, excellent in its finish.

Sieg, I'm gonna give you a little tip right now for the last part of the game: if you find an Apocalypse sword, then get a Dull Times Quest Magnus, go to The Dark Brethren's Headquarters, get some Light Powder, place it next to the Dull Times, and bring it lickity-split to the shop in Vega. Upgrade the Apocalypse with the Light Powder. The result will be a sword that lowers your enemy's Holy element when they attack you--to a HUGE degree. And since the final boss, if you've done your sidequests, uses holy-based attacks primarily...it's a good, good thing. Like, good to the point that I hit the guy several times with the sword, and he was doing 1 Damage to me for a few rounds. Very helpful.
