the light is forever dimming in my Soul,
forever dimming ‘til it turns to Black
it is then when I leave this world.

somewhere in the Dark,
a forest of Solitude lies.
listen to the Blackness,
quiet, depressing, tiresome.
nothing is as it seems.
all is not well;
everything was for naught.
The Black takes over.
it creeps into our homes,
it seeps into our lives.
terrorizing the young ones,
causing fear in the old ones,
and it is Death.

The Life

yesterday, today, tomorrow
I see myself linger on.
The me who used to feel emotions.
Now lives a cold and empty life.

Love was there, once.
It was like a flicker of hope behind my eyes,
a flicker that was soon extinguished by this
harsh and uncaring world.

And now, as I lie awake in remembrance
of the life I used to know,
I wonder.

Who is this empty shell I see staring
back at me from within the mirror?
Who is that? Is that broken person me?
Am I the one who drifts through this so-called
life like a feather in the eye of the storm? Why?

Why does that have to be me? Why can’t I find the
strength I once had? Why do I see myself through
someone else’s eyes? Why must I continue on
with this? Should I try and find myself again?
The me who know love, hope, happiness?

Well, my friends,
I know where I have gone, for my soul is
no longer here. I have found myself once again.
And I see myself on the floor of my room,
with those unseeing eyes.
yesterday, today, tomorrow.

You

It is so unbearably thick;
this silence that surrounds us.
I stare into your silver eyes,
and forever I am mesmerized by
the truth that lies within.
Those eyes that tell me so much,
yet reveal nothing.
Those eyes that paralyze me,
awaken my deepest fear and longing,
drive me insane.
How do you have complete control over me?
I am a strong person, and yet,
with one look, I’m yours.
You bask in your utmost power.
You fill the air with this stillness.
Listen to it; no sound of breath.
No small footsteps as you come nearer.
Nothing.
Only that stretching, utter silence.
You avert your eyes in my attempt
to make contact. Closer.
You reach out to me, brushing
back an ebony lock of hair from my face.
Taboo. Forbidden. Inviolable.
That is our relationship.
Most shun us to no end.
Saying that we should just forget.
No. We will not.
You bring your icy lips to my neck.
A sharp intake of breath. It breaks the silence.
“Ready?” You say. An unthinking nod.
You draw blood. I feel faint. When I awake,
there you are, hovering over me. A smile graces your lips.
I mimic your expression. And, then,
we belong. Our bond forever created.
Together we will be. Those others with fangs find us
interesting. But, who could blame them?
Never before have two creatures of the dark
that have come together,
been male.

The Realm of the Dead

Lost in the field of the realm of the dead.
In the stillness of the night we lay,
Under the twinkling stars,
On grass wet with morning dew.
Forever we will be,
In the darkness of infinity.
Trapped in a never ending void,
Forgotten we’ve become.
Lost in the forest of the realm of the dead.
We wander, hand-in-hand,
Through the thick trees we walk.
Red, yellow, green. The eyes watch us.
Cold rain falls upon us.
Other lost ones shy away.
Together we will continue to sway,
Lost in the desert of the realm of the dead.
The nights are freezing.
Our throats dry.
We fall, our mouths filling with black sand.
No more rain.
Grey skies lowing.
We blink,
Our hands in place.
A light shines up ahead.
The smell of flowers greets us.
The sound of people meets us.
And then we run,
Run into the light.
No longer are we
Lost in the valley of the realm of the dead.
