Reaching the helipad, McClane began to fuel up the Chinook. With him, he had an M-16A2 assault rifle, an M-9 pistol, and the guild's M-249 SAW.

After prepping the chopper, he loaded his weapons and ammunition, sat in one of the passenger seats, and went over schematics of the part they needed to acquire, awaiting the rest of his team.

Hicks headed for the helipad after acquiring his supplies from the armory. As he walked he double checked his M-16A2 Rifle and M-9 pistol. Its not that he didn't trust whoever had cleaned and put his weapons together, its just that nothing is certain on a battlefield. Atleast now if anything went wrong it would be his own fault.

Hicks had just finished assessing his M-16A2 when he reached the helipad. He saw his old friend McClane looking over schematics and plans. Hicks laughed a little to himself and lit a cigarrette. Poor guy worried to much. With the two of them on this mission what was the worse that could happen?

The soldier lightly walked down the helipad, his steps almost silent against the ground. This was to be a fairly routine operation, but required utmost attention to detail. This, the soldier knew from experience.

He turned the corner, seeing his two COs making their preperations. McClane worked over schematics so expertly, it seemed as though a child could understand without a hitch. Hicks stood behind him, a small, wispy cloud emanating from his cigarrette.

The soldier raised his glasses against the light of the sun, and approached the commanders.

"Attention to detail," he thought to himself. "Attention to detail."

Looking up from the sheet, a smile crossed McClane's face as he noticed his comrades had joined him, respecting him enough to remain silent as he studied. Evening gentlemen, it would appear we finally have some work available for us."

With this said, he exited the chopper, laying the blueprint on the side of the Chinook. "This is what we're after today." Pointing at the picture, he continued.

"It's called the Rolls-Royce Pegasus Mk 103 Turbofan Engine. Without it, we can't have an airforce. It will allow our future aircraft to take off vertically, enabling us to keep our jets concealed as well as allowing for quick launches for emergancies." Reaching one of his pockets, he pulled out another sheet. Unfolding it, he showed it to the others.

"We will also need four of these vector nozzles." He explained, folding both papers back up and placing them into his coat. "After reviewing the blueprints, I know that our helicopter will be able to handle this load, so there wont be any need to worry about that."

Stepping into the chopper, he turned to the others. "Hicks, I'll allow you to pilot the Chinook. Let's get into the air and I'll further explain the mission details once we are underway. I have the coordinates already loaded into the guidance system, so there will be no need for my direction to the mission site."

Hicks nodded to McClane and reviewed what he had just been told quietly to himself. They couldn't afford anything to go wrong on this mission so Hicks made sure that he knew what he was after and what to expect.

He flicked what remained of his cigarrette away and turned around to face their Chinook. You could tell by the shape it was in that it had been through a number of battles. There were bullet holes that peppered the outer hull that were caused by small arms fire and a scorch mark near the tail that could have been RPG fire.

Hicks allowed a small grin to come to his face. He liked a vehicle that had some character to it. It gave him the slightest sense of security since it had been proved battle worthy more than once already.

"I am going to double check the Chinooks systems and make sure that our mechanics didn't miss anything."
Hicks nodded to McClane and to the Soldier that would be coming with them. He began to turn away and then stopped mid-turn. He quickly glanced back at the Soldier and sized him up. Something about the Soldiers stance interested Hicks. He couldn't put his finger on it though. Better to ask about it later. They had a mission to do.

The soldier listened to the explaination from McClane, taking in all that could be. However, he only focused on McClane, but listened to everything. He closed his eyes, taking in all the sounds of the world that surrounded him, listening for something that was out of place. His experiences had taught him to always be alert to everything.

As McClane finished his explanation, he opened his eyes to the light. His thoughts focused on the pictures McClane held, storing them into his brain.
He then shifted focus onto the aircraft. It was tattered and old, but in good condition.

He watched as Hicks continued with his tinkering and meticulous, borderline-obsessive checking of the ship.

The soldier adjusted his rifle and straightened his coat. He headed for the passenger bay of the chopper, waiting patiently for his commanders.

He sat rigidly on the wall-mounted chair, still alert. He closed his eyes once again, listening to the commanders.

Hicks worked on checking the Chinooks systems. His hands were a blur as he checked and rechecked the mechanics work to make sure they didn't have any sudden surprises on their mission.

He watched out of the corner of his eye as the Soldier noiselessly came on board and took his seat. He moved with the same liquid like grace that members of his old squad did. Hicks knew there was more to this Soldier than he was letting on.

Just the thought of his last squad made Hicks cringe. Even after they survived all the experiments and the gruesome training they were still sent on those suicidal missions. It was a miracle that Hicks had survived at all even with the augmentations. If only they hadn't gone on that last...

Hicks pushed the memory out of his mind. He had work to do and little time to do it in. He didn't feel like getting a headache from McClane because he was not ready to depart.

Moving to one of the seats, McClane leaned his head back, closing his eyes. After remaining silent for a few moments, listening to Hicks work, he spoke. "We should probably grab any ammunition we can find as well. If we happen to run across a large quantity of fuel, it will save us going on another mission for it in the future, though I'm not exactly sure how we would carry it, because I plan to use the hooks to carry the engine. I guess we'll figure it out once we're there."

Looking towards the Soldier, McClane spoke once more. "If you're this quiet by nature, it's alright, but this isn't as formal as the military, relax a little."

The soldier looked at them both from over his glasses. His eyes shifted from one to the other.

"Last time I relaxed, I had a bullet tear through my spine." He looked out into the sky.

"Sir, if we fill the Chinook with only a little more fuel than is needed for the mission and leave the rest here, perhaps we can fill any fuel we find into the tank until full. Perhaps any extra we can store onboard... albeit very carefully.
"Of course, sir, that will only work if everything goes according to plan. Otherwise...." he trailed off.

"It's a risk, commander. Risks must be considered carefully."

He became silent once more, his posture still rigid in the chair. He looked left and right, still listening.

Nodding at the Soldier's reply, McClane stood to his feet and moved to exit the chopper. "I admire your thinking."

Stepping towards the door, he turned his head to speak once more. "Starting this guild was a risk, I do hope we have considered that carefully enough."

With a slight smile, McClane exited the Chinook and began to siphon some of the fuel back into the pump.

Hicks listened to the exchange between McClane and the Soldier as he finished up the last item on his checklist. Once he finished Hicks stood up from his seat in the cockpit and made his way to the back of the Chinook.

Hicks leaned against the wall across from the Soldier and pulled out another smoke and lit it up. He took a long drag on it and slowly breathed out the smoke.

Hicks looked up at the Soldier through a cloud of smoke.

Something about this Soldier unnerved Hicks. He didn't feel threatened by him nor did he feel like he would cause him any harm. It was more a feeling that this Soldier was good. Very good. Hicks hadn't seen him in action but Hicks had a sixth sense about people.

Whether it be because he had been in so many battles or because he had seen so many men die or maybe because he himself had killed so many. Whatever the case, Hicks was able to size up people extremely well. It was as if he could see how many people a person had killed by the look in their eyes and the way they carried themself. Just as if they were followed by the spirits of those they had killed.

And this man before him had quite the entourage of angry spirits.

"I never got a chance to welcome you to C.O.N.F.L.I.C.T. I feel that you will be a valuable member of this guild and I look forward to working with you."
And with that Hicks held out his hand to shake.

The soldier looked at Hicks and his outstretched hand. It was a simple gesture, he thought to himself. Go ahead, take his hand. He's not the enemy, there is no need for alarm. However, the soldier had learned to trust no one, not even himself.

Yet, it was polite and respectful to shake Hicks' hand. It was almost expected for a commanding officer, and he did not want to make a bad impression on his CO. Not a good idea to make enemies with those who are covering for you in battle.

He hesitated for a moment, then extended his gloved hand. His golden ring twinkled slightly in the light as he grasped the commanders hand.

"Thank you commander. I look forward to todays mission with you."

After his work, McClane entered the chopper, taking a seat in the co-pilot chair. As he used the controls to open the roof, he turned his head halfway towards the others. "Are you two ready?"
