I'm thinking of starting a Bar Association on Gaia to represent the interests of clients engaged in arguments and debates over reports, ToS violations, and bannings.
It occured to me as I was reading over the ToS. I mean, I'm rather interested in law, so I enjoy reading over those types of things when I join a site like this. It occured to me that the majority of Gaia users have never read the ToS, and that they would never be able to argue their way out of a ban or a report when arguing against someone who had even a mild understanding of the rules.
My idea is to create a Gaia Bar with a membership fee and such via the guilds system. The Bar would officially recognize people as Gaia attorneys who would be authorized to practice and take advantage of the network the organization would offer. It would provide an easy place for users with ToS problems to go and get help. Gaia attorneys could work on a case-by-case basis or as a general representative. We would campaign for official recognition and rights for our users (i.e. clients would be able to, when confronted with a potential ban or ToS issue, ask that the mods discuss it with their attorney as well as them). We would advise users based on our knowledge of the ToS and provide a public service to the Gaia public (for a nominal fee).
Would anyone be supportive of this idea? The main problem is gaining enough capital to get the thing off the ground and widely advertised enough to make an impact and attract clients.
