Rashida stood silently in the moonlight. In the darkness her coat wasn't nearly as bright. She could almost hunt comfortably without being spotted by her prey. Her belly was full for once tonight. It was the first time in a few weeks that she had managed to catch anything larger than a rabbit.
She should have been very content; but something inside her soul was unsatisfied. She laid down placing her black muzzle between her black paws and let out a long, sharp sigh. "What's wrong with me?" She wondered as she dozed off to a restless sleep.
The dream came again to her that night. "Mommy... Daddy...." A small pink and black pup was trapped in a field with blazing fire circling closer. A strange figure had picked her up and thrown her aside. She was still crying. "I can't find my mommy..." she howled. But the figure didnt not reply. She was left alone as the figure vanished back into the flames.
"gah" Rashida kicked and moaned, her limbs kicking and running in her sleep. She awoke with a start, snorting, and nearly chokeing from fear. "I don't remember... Is that really my memory... or just a dream..." Rashida thought to herself... She had no idea who her parents even were. It had always just been her... always...
But lately that seemed to be the problem... She was an adult now... and like all creatures, she felt the pull of the seasons. Her urges and desires made her restless. Plus traveling with others had other benefits, makeing hunting more efficient and increased safety, etc.
She slipped down to the waterhole to clear her mind. Lowering her head she closed her eyes and took a long draw of water...
When she opened her eyes she was startled to see the reflection of another behind her.
