How the tables have turned! In this action-packed anime story, Brandon Heat returns from the dead intent on destroying Milleneon and its leader, Harry McDowell -- who, at one time, was Brandon's best friend. Because Milleneon uses undead creatures to enforce its criminal endeavors, Brandon's own undead status could give him a much-needed advantage when it comes time for the ultimate smack-down.

Characters:

Beyond the Grave (Formerly Brandon Heat): Beyond the Grave is the selfless, silent hero of Gungrave. He exists in a world where everyone dear to him is either dead or an enemy. Grave has come back from the dead to protect his former lover's daughter, Mika Asagi. Armed with his twin guns, Cerberus, and a coffin that serves as a number of deadly weapons, Grave sets out to take down Millennion, the syndicate he was once a part of.

Harry MacDowell (AKA Bloody Harry): Harry McDowell always wanted true freedom. Even when he was young, he could not stand being held back or put in his place. He used his ambition to rise in the ranks of Millennion with the help of his best friend, Brandon Heat. Impatient by nature, Harry began to plot the murder of Millennion's leader, Big Daddy, when he could not advance any further in the syndicate.

Mika Asagi: Mika Asagi is the unfortunate victim in the series. The daughter of Big Daddy and Maria, Mika grew up knowing nothing of her father's involvement with Millennion. It was only when Millennion came to kill her and her mother that she learned the truth of her past. Before Maria died she told Mika to find an old friend, Brandon Heat. Carrying a case that contained the twin guns Cerberus, Mika sought out Brandon Heat, only to find that he is now the undead killer Beyond the Grave.

Dr. Tokioka (AKA Dr. T): Dr. Tokioka is a brilliant scientist torn between his genius and his morals. He developed necrolization during his time with the Lightning syndicate. When a mafia war broke out, the doctor finally saw the terror his frankenstein-esque creatures were capable of. Tokioka was coerced into working for Harry MacDowell, but he already decided that necrolization was too evil to be used again. He used the process one final time and created the undead hero Beyond the Grave. Now Dr. Tokioka awaits the retribution he feels he deserves as Beyond the Grave attempts to fix the result of the doctor's experiments.

Maria: Maria is the sweet, clean-cut girl down the street, a contrast of Brandon's bad-boy image. Throughout the series, Maria makes her feelings for Brandon very clear. When she accepts Mr. Asagi's offer to live with him after her Uncle Jester dies, Maria is unaware that she is moving into the home of Big Daddy, head of Millenion. Brandon follows her and joins Millenion in hopes of being close to her, and for a while it works out. It is when Brandon becomes a sweeper that their relationship crumbles. He finds it harder and harder to face Maria with every person he kills, and soon he stops visiting her altogether. Maria eventually figures out what is going on, and once she does, the strong-willed woman decides to confront the man she loves.

Big Daddy: Mr. Asagi, more well-known as Big Daddy, created the syndicate known as Millennion as a means to protect his friends and loved ones. He believes in family and loyalty, and betraying the Millennion family can only be punished with death. Despite his iron-clad rule over Millennion, Asagi is a simple man who enjoys fishing and is often lonely. He happily takes Maria in as his niece after the death of her uncle. Asagi also develops a strong bond with Brandon Heat when the youth starts visiting Maria. Asagi starts to see Brandon as the son he never had. He wishes nothing more than for Brandon and Maria to be happy together. When Asagi sees Brandon drifting further away from Maria because of his job as a sweeper, Asagi takes it upon himself to fix the problem any way he can.

Bear Walken: Bear Walken has been a part of Millennion for a long time. He was one of Big Daddy's best bodyguards and he lives as a part of Millennion. When Harry Macdowell usurped the title of head of Millennion, Bear transferred his protection to Harry. The only thing that Bear may hold more dear than Millennion is his daughter, Sherry Walken, whom Harry has taken a close personal interest in...

Bunji Kugashira (AKA Madness): Bunji Kugashira earned the nickname "Madness" for his skills as a killer. He is an expert both with guns and unarmed. He also has a strange sense of morals. He deems it fine to kill others as a hitman, but he has a strong sense of loyalty to his friends and coworkers. Bunji first meets Harry MacDowell on a job to kill him. Harry tells Bunji that he is being used, and both men confirm it. Although Harry wants to recruit Bunji for Millennion, it is actually Brandon that persuades him to join. Brandon beats Bunji in unarmed combat, and Bunji has considered Brandon a close companion ever since. Bunji calls a lot of people "brother," but there is a sense that he truly means it when he calls Brandon that. It is this bond that makes facing Grave so difficult.

Balladbird Lee: Although not particularly strong-looking, Balladbird Lee is deadly when he has his knives in hand. He is suave, diplomatic, and secretive, characteristics that Harry MacDowell puts to good use. Lee was the first contact to join Harry in his quest to rise to the top of Millennion, and Lee delights in many of Harry's darker triumphs. Lee grows more and more sadistic as the series goes on. His kindness seems reserved only for his best friend, Bob Poundmax.

Bob Poundmax: Bob Poundmax is the Gungrave character who best embodies his name. The fried chicken-loving Bob really does max out his pounds. He starts off in Millennion as a skinny hacker whose skills are scouted by Harry MacDowell. With Harry's ambition fueling him, Bob proves to have the best information network in all of Billion City and perhaps the country. The more successful Bob gets, the more he can afford to eat. By the latter half of the series he near triples in girth and falls prey to all the effects of high cholestoral. When Bob's heart starts to fail him, it is up to his best friend, Balladbird Lee, to find a way to save him.

Sherry Walken: Sherry is the epitome of a woman who will do anything for love. At a very young age she becomes infatuated with Harry MacDowell despite her father, Bear's, warnings. For his part Harry keeps the relationship innocent until she is of marrying age. It is unclear just why Harry stays true to a girl who is about ten years younger than him, but once he makes his intentions clear, he gains the support of Sherry's father.

Looks interesting but I'd rather check it out...I've heard about alot of course

I scanned the character descriptions while doing this to make sure there was no spoilers, but I think I might have to look over them again... Heh Oh well.
