Well I don't know how it's in the other countries but in France u can now buy horse meat in the supermarket. Bah gonk i can't bear it!!!!!!!!!
But what it the worst is that horses are carrying in terrible conditions : no water or food, too numerous in a too little lorry...
Horses lovers are fighting to make laws to protect our fav animals during the transport.
Please give ur reactions and solutions...

As much as I love horses I understand that if people want to eat them they will. It's the way the culture is in some areas. I don't agree with it, but it's the way things are. In reality, if we ban people from eating horses then sooner or later eating cows and pigs and fish will be banned as well. That's just one of those things that is really unfair about the world.

Yeah but still horses are meant for love and compaionship, the other animals are meant for us to eat not horses and horse eating has to stop.

Okay. You need to see it from the other side of things.
In Europe, there was an outbreak of Mad Cow which attacks animals that have cloven hooves - pigs, sheep, cows, goats, etc. Horses do not have cloven hooves, thus could not get Mad Cow disease. Thus, horses were a safe meat to eat.

Ducks are amazing animals. They are smart, sweet, and far more intelligent than people give them credit for. I had a pet duck and she would follow me around like a puppy. Yet people eat ducks. I don't like it, but I understand that people like the taste of duck, and decide to eat them.

People in Europe have lived for years eating horse. Some breeds of horse have been specifically bred for the meat industry. But, they don't love horses any less than Americans do.

In India, they don't eat cows - cows are sacred to them, yet here in America, we eat beef everyday and don't give it a second thought.

It is OKAY to eat horse meat. It is NOT okay to cause unesscessary pain or discomfort to the animal during transport or slaughter.

i kind of agree with you antlers. Horse eating is something that happens. kind of like cow eating. you can choose not to and you can choose to. it depends on the person. i won't eat a horse ( unless i am like starving to death or something) but i will eat cow. Others won't eat cow or horse, and still others won't eat cow but will eat horse.

If I was starving or dying of starvation, I won't eat a horse, I would either veggies or a cow or fish but not horses.

When you are truely starving, believe me, you will eat ANYTHING you come across. When a horse died in the ghettos of Poland, it was a celebration. Holocaust surviviors have often remarked on how present-day Birkenau is blanketed with a carpet of turf...They had eaten all the grass and trees in the compound when it was last occupied.
Whether we like it or not, horses are animals. They are not gods or sacred beings. As dogs and cats are consumed in Asia, cows in America, horses shall be consumed in Europe. It is not wrong, it is just the way life is.
