Rules of Craps

In the game two dice are used. The outcome of every throw is a combination of fallen dice and a sum of the numbers from 2 to 12. The game consists of rounds. Before a first roll bets are made on win (Pass Line) or on loss (Don't Pass Line) of the player who is tossing dice. Other bets besides Come and Don't Come are also permitted. Then the first throw (called Come Out Roll) is made. After Come Out Roll the following combinations of dice are possible:

Craps (total is 2, 3, 12) - Pass Line loses, Don't Pass Line wins even money if 2 or 3 roll out and ties on 12.

Natural (total is 7 or 11) - Don't Pass Line loses, Pass Line wins even money.

Point (total is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12) - in this case the rolled total is fixed and called the point. Bets Pass Line and Don't Pass Line are played in this way: the dice are being rolled until 7 or point falls out. If 7 comes before point, Pass Line loses, but Don't Pass Line wins 1:1. If point comes before 7, then, vice versa, Pass Line wins 1:1, but Don't Pass Line loses.

Once the PassDon't Pass Line has been completed, the game starts again from the Come Out Roll. Bets on PassDon't Pass Line are accepted only before the first round. However, there are similar bets called Come and Don't Come Line, which are allowed all the time except the Come Out Roll.

Pass Line Bet:
Betting on the 'pass line', means that if the come-out roll is a 7 or an 11 you win and loses if it is craps (2, 3, 12). If another number is rolled, it becomes the 'point'. What that means is that the same number has to be rolled again before a 7 to win, if a 7 comes up then you lose.

Don't Pass Line Bet:
Betting on the 'don't pass line' means that if the come out roll is a 2 or a 3 you win and lose if it's a 7 or an 11. If the number is a 12, it's a push where nobody wins or loses. If a point is established on the first roll, then a 7 must be rolled before the point is repeated to make you a winner.

Betting with Odds:
It is possible to place odds on your pass, don't pass, come, or don't come bets. It's a way of increasing your payoff and bet without increasing the odds against you. Since an odds bet is one of the best in the casino, there is little point to placing a pass line bet without backing it up with odds. Just remember, you place your pass line bet before the come out roll, but you can only back it up with odds after a point has been established.

Come Bet:
Same as the pass line bet, except that it allows you to set your own point, that is after a point has been established for the rest of the table. After the bet is placed, the first roll is your own personal come point and that point must be rolled before a 7 for you to win. If the first roll is a 7 or an 11 you win; if it's a 2, 3, or 12 you lose.

Don't Come Bet:
Same rules as the don't pass bet and of course is the opposite of the come bet. After the bet is placed, the first roll is the come point and a 7 must be rolled before that point for you to win. If the first roll is a 2 or 3 you win automatically which obviously means that if it's a 7 or 11 you lose.

Proposition Bets:
Probably the most simple rules in craps. This rule basically means that you are betting on one throw of the dice. You basically are betting that any of the following comes up.

Seven: Seven will be rolled. Payout 4 - 1
Any Craps: A 2,3 or a 12 will be rolled. Payout 7 - 1
Ace Deuce: A 1 and a 2 will be rolled. Payout 15 - 1
Eleven: Win if a 5 and a 6 are rolled. Payout 15 - 1
Aces or Boxcars: Wins if a 2 (1 and 1) or a 12 (6 and 6) is rolled. Payout 30 - 1

Hardways Bets:
Hardway bets basically mean two dice which are the same which add up to certain numbers. Not all pairs of dices are involved. Below we have a table of what you can bet on and the payout for each bet.

2 and 2: Payout 7 - 1
3 and 3: Payout 9 - 1
4 and 4: Payout 9 - 1
5 and 5: Payout 7 - 1

Big Six or Big Eight Bet:
This bet wins if a 6 or an 8 is rolled before a 7, and can be placed at any point in the game.

Field Bets:
This is a one-roll bet where you win if a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, or a 12 is rolled. If you receive a 2 you will get double money, and if you receive a 12 you will receive triple money, otherwise you will receive even money (1:1). If any other number is rolled, you lose.

Place Bets:
Any of these bets can only be placed after the point has been determined; only then you can place either the 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or the 10. You win if the number you placed a bet on comes up before a 7; otherwise, you lose. The Place Bets are located on the very top box of the craps table.
