Lu Ten hasn't died yet, Zuko hasn't gotten his scar, and Lady Ursa is still around. Lord Azulon rules over the fire nation. What could happen?
I want there to be an RP here where we make up Zuko/Azula/Ty Lee/Mai's childhoods. You can make up your own character, or become one from Avatar THAT WOULD ACTUALLY BE THERE. NO KATARA, SOKKA, AANG, ETC.

Mei walked about the palace. She paced around the room, scrubbing the floors as she, as a servant of the royal family, was supposed to do. She mumbled to herself in complete and utter boredom, wondering where everyone else was.

A young Mai walked in the palace, searching for Azula and Ty Lee. This place is too big, she thought. How can you find anyplace?

Mei saw Mai wandering about. She shouted out, "What are you doing in this part of the palace, my Lady? It isn't clean yet." Mei scrubbed the floor faster.

Mai looked at the servant oddly. Usually they went about their work and didn't say anything. She wasn't sure how to respond, so she just ignored the comment and left.

Mei watched the Lady walk away without saying a single word. She smirked as though she expected that to happen. Mei squeezed the wet cloth into the bucket and continued her work in peace. "I wonder where the other higher people were..." she thought, almost outloud.
((can I change my name to Naru, since there's Mai xd ))

A small child, nothing but the age of 9, weakly reached for assistance of one of the castle guards. He ignored her. And a small tear ran down her cheek. Her large lavender eyes grew larger. In the palm of her hand - her first real tear!! From someone else other than her cruel tyrant mother! Her tears were not of sadness and dejection anymore; they were of joy! The guard stared at her, with perplexion. Why is this child that I refuse to help who's also ragged happy all of a sudden? He whispered to another guard, who replaced him, and went to report this... odd scene.
"A child? How could you just turn her down like that?!" Lady Ursa exclaimed. The guard just shrugged dumbly. "Take me to her, immediately!"

Mai saw Lady Ursa taking in a small, ragged child. Mai wrinkled her nose. Her mother told her she was of too high class to speak to girls like that, and that she should be friends with the princess. Well, she was, but what was the difference between Azula and that ragged thing? The girl was probably nicer as well.

"Oh, child, what has the world done to you?" Lady Ursa asked. Tears welled out of the girl's eyes.
"My mommy did this to me," she said.
"And who is your mommy? We'll make sure she never does this to anyone again."
She shook her head furiously. "No, no, you can't!"
"Don't be afraid. You're with us now. We'll protect you. Tell me, what's your name?"
"No, no, you don't get it! You CAN'T! My name is Jessarai and my mother is Queen Salimar!"
Both the guards' and Lady Ursa's eyes grew large. She started scolding at the guards. "Do you not see?! This is the daughter of Her Majesty herself?! You could have gotten us all in danger! Come, Jessarai. Immediately. I will not hear of any abandoned child being ignored again! Should any of you do so, you will recieve punishment!" Lady Ursa rushed the child inside the castle for food, water, and some clean clothes. "Mai! Will you take her around the castle and show her where to find new clothing?"

Word of the royal, abused child spread through the ears of every servant. Naru smirked at the thought of such a powerful girl getting such "harsh" treatment. She laughed at herself, picking up her bucket and moving to a new area, hoping to see this infamous child

"Wait! May I speak to you?" Jessarai asked while in the palace. Ursa quickly nodded. Jessarai started whispering as she noticed a few servants staring at her ragged state. "Why are you afraid of me?"
Ursa gave a false laugh. "Oh, no, child, I'm not afraid of you. Fire Nation welcomes you. You will become indestructible, child. You are the Flame Aura Gravitist - you do know that, right?" Jessarai furiously shook her head. Ursa sighed. "I'll have one of the servants show you the robes while I speak to Mai. She'll tell you everything of who you are." Ursa turned to the closest servant. "You! It's Naru, am I correct? Will you please show her where she can get clean clothing?"

Naru rolled her eyes at the sound of someone calling her 'you' and stood up. She bowed. "Yes, Lady Ursa." Naru walked past the little girl, motioning for her to follow. Without looking to see if the child actually followed, she stepped out of the room and down some stairs to where the servants cleaned everyones' clothes.

"Th-thank you, miss," Jessarai managed to sputtered. In the five years that Jessarai had stayed at the Fire Mountain palace, she had seen many slaves cruelly beaten. She was happy to see that these maids were not beaten as much.

Mai bowed low before Ursa. "How may I help you my lady?" Mai didn't want to help, but her mother told her to treat the royals with a lot of repsect, or else. Besides, Lady Ursa was kind, and Zuko seemed to like her. Mai liked Zuko, so she became interested in whatever he liked, since when she did that with Azula, it worked.
