Utensils and staves (if you have the special sauce glove) are always good - I'd recommend the Star Spatula (+15 spell damage!) and the meatspout staff (+7 myst, +3 adv. when equipped at rollover, 15% meatdrops.)

In most cases, you won't be using spells until probably around level 7 or so. At that point, find the best +spell damage utensil you can get -- there's the Knob Goblin melon baller in the laboratory, for example. At level 10, there's the oversized pizza cutter at the Penultimate Fantasy Aisrhip.
They are all 1-handed weapons; in your offhand, you should be using a kickback cookbook or one of the other two cookbooks from your guild store. The other cookbooks make it so that the spell you cast is always fire or always ice (which is good since the Pastamancer and Sauceror spells do a random type of damage each cast and, for example, you wouldn't want to be casting ice at a yeti).
Staves, of course, are 2-handed weapons.
If you have Eye of the Stoat/Lunging Thrust Smack, you can also choose to go through your Sauceror run using those, instead of spells.

I found the Iron Pasta spoon, a cheap basic weapon, as a primary for low level maging plus they are really cheap ^_^

The 5-Alarm saucepan thingy. the Saucerors Epic weapon.
All it costs is a clover and some meat paste. Get a large rock, paste it together with the right components, and bingo.

There's talk from Jick and his ilk about a new class of weapon about to be introduced; the Chefstaves. Spirit of Rigatoni and Special Sauce Glove are to be revamped, they will instead allow equipping these Chefstaves - one-handed weapons with myst class-friendly enchantments.
Though I have no idea when they're supposed to be implemented. Might not be until after NS13.

Ah, NS-13. Oh, how I wonder what will happen. Other than the obvious, of course. All I know is it's building up to be something potentially spectacular. Not sure if it will be, though.

It should be spectacular. So far, they've hinted that the Gallery exp will be less than exciting compared to what you will be able to get elsewhere. And simply put, they've got two whole levels to fill with quests and stuff. I suspect a lot of it will be elemental.

It seems to me that either people will love it, or they will hate it.
That's about the only sure thing right now. (Although, I'm thinking there will be a trophy for being around when NS-13 finally rolls out.)
