Does anyone else here speak any Japanese at all? Maybe any interest in the language, or learning it? :}
I'm teaching myself Japanese and Norwegian at the moment. I love languages. 大変おもしろいですね。 heart

It means "Do you understand English?" x3
I took it to heart to memorize "私の日本語は悪いですね、御免なさい。"
Which means..."My Japanese is bad, huh? I'm sorry." xd
All in all, I think I could carry out a basic conversation in spoken Japanese. Written, not so much. But the studying is ridiculously fun :3

Well, I do a couple things... Rule of thumb is-don't use internet translators. They are so indescribably horrid. xD
I buy books to study with; I don't go to any sites or anything. I have a dictionary, which is my bible right now...as well as some grammar books and other such things, like a book of 1,000+ kanji. Kanji is a little hard to study as there aren't that many books that teach it; most books just used modified versions of the Hepburn roumaji system. (That is, Japanese written in our own Roman alphabet, as apposed to kanji and kana.)
So after I got the hang of basic grammar, I've been going through my dictionary and memorizing 5 different words a day. That's how I study. I'm usually in front of a Japanese-based book for...at least an hour every day. 3nodding I've been studying for, eh, somewhere around 6 months, I think? Could be more, could be less ._.
This is why I'm behind on my Norwegian xp
But...for kanji, my Shoxx and Cure magazines help A LOT! There's nothing like being able to translate your first sentence all by yourself. blaugh I also teach some basic Japanese classes on another one of my Gaian guilds. That helps to kind of make sure all that information stays in my head. heart

*raises hand* I want to learn it. I've checked a book/CD set from the library, and also a Kanji book. Also, I figure listening to Diru helps some.
