I've been reading a lot about how PeTA's employees in North Carolina have been killing healthy animals rather than re-homing them. Ingrid Newkirk (PeTA president) has refused to condem the two employees involved, saying it knew about the killings, and that they were justified as the animals could not be re-homed, for various reasons. Well, I just read this: -
An Associated Press report quoted veterinarian Patrick Proctor of Ahoskie Animal Hospital as further stating that authorities found a female cat and her two "very adoptable" kittens among the dead animals, and that "these were just kittens we were trying to find homes for."
In North Carolina, PeTA has been killing 75% of the animals it has collected over the past five years. Other local shelters have had to put down only (I say only with a very heavy heart) just over 30%. Considering that PeTA is probably one of the most well-funded organisations of its type, I think this STINKS.
No more will I send contributions into such an organisation that accuses others of harming animals needlessly, only to do exactly the same thing themselves.
Ingrid Newkirk is on record as claiming that PeTA could operate a no-kill shelter. But they choose not to because, she claims, most of the animals PeTA accepts are un-adoptable, and that killing them is the humane thing to do. Surely, even if this is true (and it isn't) those very animals are the ones PeTA should be doing most to protect & succor.
If we agree that animals have rights then, as for humans, they have a right to life, and they shouldn't be deprived of life simply because they are, in PeTA's opinion, un-adoptable.
Shame on Ingrid Newkirk. Shame on PeTA.

To be honest I don't like PETA, most are just liars looking for money. To be honest they do more bad then good. Have you ever seen them rescue any animals? All they do is protesting and making bloody brochueres. gonk No offense PETA-lovers

yesnomaybeso999 To be honest I don't like PETA, most are just liars looking for money. To be honest they do more bad then good. Have you ever seen them rescue any animals? All they do is protesting and making bloody brochueres. gonk No offense PETA-lovers yeah, first they "save" the animals and say they'll take good care of them, then, "whoops, i had my fingers crossed" and they kill the animals.... crying .....i agree, they're doing more harm than good....its sad....what this world is coming to, its very disheartening... cry

I honestly don't care how they were killed. It just matters that they were killed. The animals are at the animal shelter for a reason, so they can have a chance of a good life with a loving family. I mean, if the animals were truly "in pain", don't you think the people at the shelter would have already euthanized them?
I agree with everybody above me. All they do is protest and show disgusting videos. They don't really help animals. All they do is gross people out and show their idiocy to the world.

Instant Karma! Yeah...I saw a spokeswoman for PETA on TV the other day trying to defend the organization. She was saying that the animals were killed in a "humane" way.
I honestly don't care how they were killed. It just matters that they were killed. The animals are at the animal shelter for a reason, so they can have a chance of a good life with a loving family. I mean, if the animals were truly "in pain", don't you think the people at the shelter would have already euthanized them?

The only "humane way" of killing is naturally, not by injection, execution, etc. They're coming Sacramento in the next month or so to have a meeting, Im gonna gather all my friends who hate PETA and are vegetarians, etc. and protest against it all...^_^....

yeah they were euthanized in a humane way BUT they were very adoptable... and they said it was a no kill shelter.. thats a big lie! but i will support the fact that they did help me become a vegetarian so i will always take their free leaflets and hand them out.

This doesn't surprise me. PeTA is one of the most ignorant, hypocritical non-profits out there. After their "Eat the Whales" campaign, it isn't hard for me to imagine them doing this.
