The New Years Giving Star
This year, I've decided to set up a "Secret Santa" type of thing, but with my own little twist, because Gaia has saftey limitations that prevent an actual SS event from going on.
Now I can clear up the description a little nicer: "Spend from 200 - 2000 Gold on the member the Giving Star chooses for you. Giving will start on Christmas Day. If the other person doesn't give you anything in return by January 2nd, you may keep the gold/item."
After you've joined . . .
Click the user's name the Giving Star chose for you to go to their Quest Sheebil page.
Click on their Wish List to see if there's anything listed you can afford (200 - 2000 gold). If there's nothing there, then click on "View Profile" on their QS profile page to see if they have any items listed on their wish list or if there's a dream avatar. If still you find nothing and have no idea what to get, you can always just give them some gold - or maybe a brown trunk/giftbox for added surprise? >.<
After finding something they'd like, you can save it until Christmas, when gift giving begins: if you're going on vacation, send it before you leave, please!
On Christmas (Dec. 25) gift giving starts, and this doesn't have to be tricky. I thought about the "Gift Giving" feature of Gaia, but it's not a good idea to use that, so stick to the "Trade" feature . . .
1. If the other person hasn't already, start the trade with them with the item/gold you picked out for them. Give it a good title (instead of "trade request from x to y") like "Giving Star Gift!" so they don't mistake it for a random donation or something.
2. The other person shouldn't confirm until they have put in what they chose to give to you. If they do, just PM them (nicely!) to remind them they need to add your gift. This goes for you, too, if the other person started the trade first.
3. After the trade is finished, you might want to send the other person a thank-you PM. If they give you something really nice, maybe some avi-art? Gift-giving is a nice gesture, and thank-yous just spread that cheer. ^.^
. . . If by any reason the other person does not send you back a gift by January 2nd, you should check their profile first to see if they went on vacation and forgot to give you something before they left (like they were supposed to) and PM them to let them know to send something ASAP when they get back.
If they just plain forgot or neglected to return your nice gift-giving gesture, then you can just cancel the trade and do whatever with the gift you had chose for them. You should also PM me to let me know - they will be removed from the participants list (so, they have no chance of winning 5k).
