Can you describe that sensation? Itches and pain, phantom bleeding, feather ruffled, etc.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 23, 2006 12:48 pm

Well it really depends what it is and what type they are.

But when my tail, or wings come out it is pressure usually in the spot.
Sometimes they hurt, but it really depends on many things.
Such as what I am wearing or if I'm sitting.
And the pressure I spoke of just feels like something is on my back (for my wings).

Its a little hard to describe, sorry.

Say you suddenly slipped off a chair and landed on your tailbone, that's what accidentally sitting on your tail feels like.

Also, when someone massages me and hits my wings it's like having a charley horse in my back.

Lance made me sit in a massage chair today, it was painful, but it massaged my butt, so I was like, " gonk OW! 4laugh aahhhh... gonk MAHRFAGR! 4laugh fwee!"

Yeah, I saw this topic early today but had NO idea how to describe it. gonk

But yeah.. My ears just feel elongated. No.. 'sensation', per se.. Just like they're supposed to be longer.
Tail's just like they said. :3
Wings, depends on the circumstance. If I've got my back against something and my wings are smushed or I don't move them out of the way and it's a bad position, it feels really sore where the joints would connect to my body. Sometimes it comes through as heat as well as soreness, sometimes it stings, sometimes they're cold. If I'm just sitting and they hurt, because I'm thinking/talking about them, it's just pretty much sore.

Like most of us can relate, just talking about our limbs can result in at least a bit of sensation, maybe not pain, but feeling.

say you cross your arms, and you try to grab something with a hand thats on the right, but you start moving the wrong hand. that temporary confusion about your limbs can be compared to having phantom limbs. before you become more used to the feeling, it comes in spurts of "oh, i need to sit down, OUCH i sat on my tail! ... wait a sec.. i don't have a tail.."

the only way i can describe the actual feeling of them, is just to say it feels like any normal limb.. like my arm. i know my arm is there and i can feel it move through the air. i know my tail is "there" and i can feel it move, but it's also detacted from some feelings. for example, when i sit on my tail, or hit it, or get it stuck in something (when i forget to phase it through stuff) it just feels a sort of pins and needles, like when your foot is asleep, it's not painful, just a very strange feeling.

I tend to phantom shift quite a bit, and I've become more "aware" of my phantom limbs presence, and i am rarely surprised by their being there. I always lean forward in high-backed chairs, sleep on my side, etc. Usually the sensation at the onset of a shift is like a subtle weight on my shoulder blades, sometimes accompanied by a deep dull ache.

To me, phantom limbs just feel like pressure.
For example, when I'm aware of my tail, I feel this really hard pressure at the base of my spine, and I can "feel" it moving by the changes in the pressure.
The same goes for my ears, only on my head instead of my spine. xd

I seem to be one of few people who don't actually experience pain when their phantom limbs hit things... I do feel them, though. They just kind of... go through things, which is an experience all it's own. It'd be like if your hand, but not arm, could suddenly move through objects no problem (other than a slight..."awareness"*, I guess). razz Freakin' weird, man.

My limbs come to me as a sort of pressure or energy focus where they touch my body as well as a kind of just... awareness. Like my body's energy is continuing outward and taking shape. They don't feel as strong as my physical limbs do, but they feel just as if not more natural than my normal ones. They generally just don't get in the way. It's pretty rare that they do - I feel lucky.

*Kind of like when you hold a finger just above the skin in the place between your eyes - a kind of pressure-y...awareness.

I think Midnight and Blue Eyed Wonder said it best, pressure. You feel the pressure on those specific areas and it's like what the hell is going on and then you realize it's just your damn phantom limbs. No worries miss! :'D

I'd describe wings as... well, sometimes it can be a general feeling of discomfort. Usually, though, I can feel mostly the weight of them I also get a tactile sensation when they touch other parts of my body, and motion... much like when you move a leg, you can feel the motion of it.

Teeth: I get phantom canine teeth of a wolf. It's a bit like the sensation that there's more in my mouth than is actually there. My mouth feels fuller than it should, you know. Like I should be able to move my tounge and it would move over the length of teeth.

Um... ears. It's mostly just the sensation that they move. When something catches my attention, I can feel my phantom ears swivel around. I dunno if it's entirely them, though, because it also causes my real ears to attempt to move... the same muscles that people who can wiggle their ears move. Those move and cause my ears to twitch (it was really interesting when it started happening. I'd never before been able to move my ears. eek I'm still getting used to the sensation.)

Like others have said: Sometimes it's a pressure. Sometimes it's not a feeling at all, but just an awareness.
Then otherdays, it's a frustration. My mind tells my muscles to flex my wings, and yet they aren't there (obviously) and so the electrical impulses just fall short and return to my brian saying they aren't there and my brain say's try again, and my body says "you're being stupid..." and then All my back and shoulder muscles get out of whack and I just feel wierd. Kinda like when you're sitting in a crampde back seat of a car and want to streach, but can't 'cause there isn't enough room. Yeah.

As for getting a massage... OOOHHH, those are the best. Even when given by people who aren't aware of my wings. They seem to work out the kinks that I know are merely energy knots and not physically there.

I know I haven't really answered the question to anybody's liking (even my own) but that's what it's like for me.

Sorry for being confusing,
~Griffarion

with my its more like i feel the 'essence' of it being there. sometimes it hurts when it touches something, sometimes i can move it, sometimes i can feel its texture like i can feel the skin of my physical body, and i can always feel something move through it.

i typically do feel a slight increase in weight and a sort of 'right' feeling with wings and the like, however. i also notice that my phantom limbs do sometimes hurt, seemingly at random.

yeah my phantom limbs are just kinda there. They hurt just like any toher limb if hit or whatever. Mine occasionally phase through stuff too like my tail and chairs if i'm not careful. It feels kinda like I'm falling when they do that but I'm not. So i can feel them or their energy anyway but theres no pressure. If i get phantom fur I feel warm even if its like 50 degrees.

One interesting thing about my phantom wings is that they respond to the wind- in strong winds, I can feel the wind in my feathers. That's half the fun of mountain climbing- the wind.
