Day 2Evening/Night------------------------ Continuation of Previous RP:Glaucus and Chris Discuss the Changes/Situation------------------------ Christopher quickly rushed out of his cabin and ran for the trail that lead through the woods to the beach. It didn't occur to him to wait for Glaucus at all until he was already far down the trail. It took him a moment to even realize he had travelled so far head without realizing it. Looking up, Chris could see a beautiful half moon hanging in the sky as the misty, transparent clouds loomed past. However, he soon snapped out of the enchantment and decided he should head back towards Glaucus to make sure his friend didn't get lost. Running back in the opposite direction, he kept his eyes peeled out and called out, "Glaucus?"

Glaucus walked out of Chris house, Glancing up at the sky he saw the half moon glowering down at him, it seemed so ethereal and angry, so clear here away from all the cluttered buildings of the mainland. He couldn’t shake his feeling of both dread and excitement, for the experiment Chris was launching. He felt almost like he was in one of the stories of the metamorphoses, about receive judgment from a god that he had committed hubris to. That reminded him, he had to give the book back.”
He ran back in the house and picked the book off of the table where he left, a few minutes later he returned to hear Chris calling out his name.
“I’m right here!” he shouted back.

"Well, let's get to the water slowpoke," Chris teased as he ran down the trail once more until they reached the clearing to the beach. It was a very beautiful sight to behold. The water was shimmering and there was total isolation. But unlike the river, the place was filled with life. Crickets and owls could be plainly heard giving their night calls. Fish were swimming through the water.
Christopher approached the water's edge and just smirked. "Man, we should have just skipped the river altogether and came here."

Glaucus’s jaw dropped; it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Why did he want to go to the river in the first place? Chris echoed that mental question out loud mere seconds after Glaucus thought of it. The water was calm, so serene; the moonlight, which seemed hedonistic in the cabin, appeared calm and forgiving over the ocean. His fear seemed to be washing out, out of him leaving only with a physical desire for the water. He knew in his mind it was extremely unsafe to swim at night, for that was when the sharks came to feed.
His rational mind forbid him from going all the way in the water with the shark threat near, but he walked about knee deep and stood staring out to sea. He said quietly, singing a few lines form the Sirenian shores song, “Come to the sea, where I can rest, forever free.”

Christopher couldn't help but chuckle as his friend recited a few lyrics aloud. "You're quite the poetic one, aren't you?"
While Glaucus did his thing, Chris gazed up at the sky once more. He immediately became entranced by the half moon once more and just admirally viewed it. Then suddenly, a howl bellowed from Christopher's lips which even caught him offguard and made him cover his mouth. Once he had realized what he just did, Chris let out a few nervous but amused laughs.
"Well, that was unexpected," Christopher commented to Glaucus.

Glaucus cringed, did Chris just… howl? He turned around from being half way into the water and fingers felt a little… well odd. Why did he go in what if whatever happed isn’t disguisable? He looked at his hands and saw what it was, his webbing between his fingers was brown, and it looks like it had advanced about midway to his knuckle line.
“Oh crap…” How… how am I supposed to hide this? Glaucus said staring at the webbing, he started to back out of the water, and he ran towards Chris.

"Hide what?" Christopher asked in a bewildered manner as his friend ran back towards him. But then he noticed just what Glaucus was referring to as he came closer. There was a brown colored webbing between Glaucus's fingers now. Christopher was amazed and in awe of seeing this. That meant that his hypothesis was correct.
When his friend got closer, Chris had a closer inspection and commented. "I was actually right. How cool is that?! ...Oh, Glaucus, I'm sorry. I forgot..."
Chris shrunk back, realizing what he has just caused. Afterall, Glaucus was right. How was he going to hide this change. He felt very responsible for what happened. How could he not have considered the consequences. Clearing his throat, Christopher tried his best to offer his condolences and help, acting a little regretful.
"I have some fingerless gloves I can give you to cover up the webbing if you want," he offered, keeping his distance from Glaucus, afraid his friend might hit him or something.

“It would be so much cooler if I didn’t have to fear what my father would say.” Glaucus said with a crushed hope. “I have always, always wanted this. But not like this. It wasn’t supposed to happen this way.” He said and gulped hard. “The gloves would be an excellent idea, were it not for the fact it’s almost summer. I do appreciate the gesture, though.” He went on, “When I said I wanted a birthday like no other before we left, this isn’t what I meant. It’s almost the thirtieth.”
It was then that Glaucus saw Chris’s expression he could tell he felt guilty.
Glaucus sighed, “Let’s talk about something else, how did your visit with your Indian friend go?”

Christopher sighed as well and replied, "Bad choice of topic change. It went like s**t. I did encounter this one guy on the way back though. Dropped him off at his work. He tried to pull an anti-social card on me. It didn't work too well."
Backtracking a little, Chris contemplated what Glaucus meant that he didn't want it to happen like this. Had he meant that he wishes his family wasn't present or was there something more to it? He decided it would be best to ask and find out. "Not the way you wanted it to happen... Do you just mean the fact your family is here or what? I can't imagine any other type of ideal situation. And also, fingerless gloves aren't a seasonal thing, didn't you know that? They're more of a stylish thing."

“Interesting, like I said people these days they’re either stupid or jerks. I told you about the guy who threatened me in Italian outside the store today right?”
“No, not that I would wish them elsewhere, I just wish that they wouldn’t react badly.” Glaucus continued, “I KNOW it’s going to be bad when the changes accelerate further. I mean think about today, I developed gills, five hours later I’m breathing out of said gills intermittently and barely a half an hour after that my fingers web. What if I wake tomorrow with a tail or something?”
“And the gloves being seasonal or stylized it won’t matter, my dad will tell em to take them off, and then I’m sunk.” Glaucus Shrugged, “He gets like that”

"Well, at least your sister didn't react ba... Wait a minute! Did you just say the guy spoke italian?!" Christopher interrupted his own sentence. "What did he look like?"
He had suspicions that this person might be Duke, the person that he drove to work. But then he decided to get back on topic. "Maybe your sister can help you come up with something to cover up the webbing. Either way, I am sorry."
Gazing back up towards the sky, Chris looked at the moon longingly once more. In a way, it offered him comfort and hope that things would turn out fine. After all that happened so far, he didn't want to continue to feel guilty about all the proceedings that were taking place.

"Let me think…” Glaucus formed a mental picture of the man. “He had black or perhaps silver hair, he was about my height, He looked really skinny, but I could tell that guy works out. And pale, especially pale for an Italian.”
“Well I hope tomorrow it will all be better.” Glaucus said finally “I think for both our sakes, we should call it a night.”

Christopher stared in awe as Glaucus perfectly described the man he had driven to work that night. "That's him! That's the guy! His name was Duke. Anyway, what a coincidence, heh?"
"Ok Glaucus, but take care of yourself and sorry about this again. I should have been thinking a bit more clear before I suggested this," Christopher apologized once more. "Want me to walk back with you to your cabin?"

“No, don’t worry about it, I’m fine” Glaucus said, covering up a flat out lie. “Besides I need to put the book back on Jeanne’s Doorstep.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” Glaucus broke the little silence he made.

As his friend walked away, Christopher sighed once more and just stared at the beautiful sights of the sky and beach. It was no longer offering much comfort due to his own guilt. Deciding there was nothing else to do, Chris decided to head back to his cabin. He once again followed the trail back to the resort, all the while staring at the half moon in the sky.
