Okay, so.
The crew has been discussing the possibility of starting up a Guild Personals thread. As in, the kind that you put an ad up in to advertise your availability and search for a potential mate. That kind of personals ad. ;D
This really isn't a hookup guild and we'd like to keep that out of the main purpose of the guild. However, a few of us thought it might be nice and pretty harmless to have around.
The current plan is for people to submit their advertisements to a guild mule, which will then place them on a personals thread stickied on the main forum page. The ads will only last a certain amount of time (two weeks? a month?) and be updated every so often so that members can be sure that the ads are recent/current and that the people submitting them have not in fact left Gaia or hooked up in the meantime. This also means that you'll kind of be "featured" in the thread, which could be an advantage in visibility.
We may launch a pilot of this thread in the near future to see if this will work out. But first, we need to know if there's any guild interest in having a personals thread, and also what you guys think of the idea we have out. If you don't really like it, what kind of thread are you thinking, or how could we make it better? Feel free to point out any flaws you see, anything you like or don't like about this, and offer up constructive criticism.
Remember, the more of an explanation you give us, the more helpful your opinion is and the better we can make this (or the better we can "not do" this, if that's the case XD). So please tell us what you think!
Everything is tentative at the moment--we might do it, we might not. It's up to you guys, really!

It sounds so... complicated. I mean, like you mention, this is not a dating agency. =/ I'm kind afraid that if this start up, the guild will lose it's main purpose.
The idea is also good tho', it just need alot of attention and management. I'm sure you mods can do that well. =)
Let's see what other thinks. =S

Oh by the way, we probably also need to know if anyone's interested in participating in a pilot of the thread (as described in the first post). If you are, please send a PM to to "Shoujo Ai Personals" to let us know you're willing to help test it. We'll probably just randomly select a few volunteers or something if we're gonna try this out.
You don't have to be a girl to be using or testing the thread, by the way. Just wanted to make that clear! =O

overall, it could work you just have to create it & it's rules the right way otherwise it'll get all crazy and the guild won't be the same guild it is today. Of course, thats figuratively speaking.

Someone might just come here to hook up with someone then leave, and defeat the purpose of the guild, but in other cases, it can be good 'cause you can make new friends and such.

i say you should have some sort of a trial period. if it works out and people like it then keep it but if people dont like it or people are only here for it then toss it.

Maybe you should put a time-constraint on it? IE, you have to have been a member for such-and-such a time in order to post a personal? To discourage people joining solely for the personals thread.
I remember when there were Gaia personals... That's what the building that says "LOVE" on the map of Barton Town is from.

This thread seems a bit old, but I think I'll add my two gold anyway.
That's a terrible idea gonk There's a million other places on Gaia that people can hookup. This guild doesn't need a hookup thread. It's nice just how it is! crying
