Culture:

A curious aspect of Naga culture is the elusive third gender, jokingly dubbed 'threemale' by Patrian scholars. In theory, the relationship between males, females, and threemales forms a triangle: males impregnate females, females impregnate threemales, and threemales impregnate males. Threemales are said to be very rare, and no self-proclaimed threemales have ever volunteered to be studied. Some theorize that threemales are a figment of the culture's imagination, created to explain the existence of homosexual relationships. However, the Superior Nagas claim that they have seen real threemales, and that certain living nagas are the product of a threemale parent.

Allies and Enemies:

Humans- Patria, the Human homeland, holds Lacerta, the Naga homeland, as a colony of sorts. The Lacertans are given a generous degree of autonomy, and the Patrian army will be mobilized to protect Lacerta if it were ever threatened by outside forces. In return, the Humans use Lacerta's resources to boost its own economic power. Lacertan dragonskin is a valuable commodity. Many Naga tribes are under the sponsorship of independant Human merchants who buy their leatherwork, and pay them in grain and other supplies. Currently, the system works surprisingly well. Minimal contact between the two prevents the loss of Lacertan culture and rights. The Human merchants often encourage the Nagas to increase their Minotaur Dragon herds, which could be harmful to their grazing pastures, but the Nagas so far have been able to resist this pressure. However, some Patrian politicians are pushing for greater involvement in Lacerta, perhaps to the point of true colonization, with Humans moving into Naga lands.

Elfs- The Elfs do not have very many dealings with the Nagas. Instead, Human merchants act as a medium between the two races. However, the Elfs have been watching Patria carefully, suspecting that the Humans may begin taking advantage of the Nagas and their lands. If such a situation were to arise, the Elfs would quickly come to the Nagas defense.

Faerys- Faerys are rare on the flat, featureless grasslands of Lacerta, and those who do live there tend to gather around the sparse, thorny trees peppering the country. Therefore, Nagas associate Faerys with trees and will often make offerings at the base of trees when in need of a Faery blessing. The Faerys are frightened by the Nagas' reptilian appearance, but will occasionally accept their offerings and give them temporary charms. The Nagas seem to think that Faerys are more powerful than they really are.

Po-Kai- Naga hunters are known to climb up into the Hau-Pei-Tse to steal the eggs of the Po-Kai, a rare delicacy in Lacerta. The Po-Kai hate and fear the Nagas, giving them the position of demons in their folklore. When a Naga is sighted in the mountain forests, all able-bodied Po-Kai men are duty-bound to seek it out and kill it before it reaches their nests. The Po-Kai will not even use Lacertan dragonskin leather, considering it cursed and unlucky. Putting a Naga and a Po-Kai in a room together will always result in at least one of them getting killed.

Ghoblings- Ghoblings would attack the Nagas with the same ferocity that they attack anything else that moves. Fortunately, Nagas are strong and formidable opponents, and do not hold the same fear against Ghoblings that the other races do. They consider Ghoblings to be simple pests. Because of this, Human missionaries often employ Naga bodyguards to protect them when working on Maligo. Outside of the realm of Human influence, the two races rarely encounter each other.

Unica- Neither the Unica nor the Nagas are prone to leave their respective homelands, and thus have had very few encounters with each other. Naga dragonskin often finds its way to Solitudo through Human merchants, and Unica hunting gear has been seen wielded by Naga warriors, but the two races don't have very much knowledge of each other.
