Stepping back in time two young calves stepped beyond the barrier of protection the valley offered and deliberately disobeying their mother's requests, headed into the shadow of the woods. The forest was a veil of mystery to the both and in an attempt to understand and explore the pair headed in. Leading was a strong young calf with brilliant red fur and a remarkable white oak leaf marking on his forehead. Following him was a darker deer, with a plump exterior and a fearful expression. Rannoch and Bankfoot trailed in.
Now in our time, the time of Firebringer's Legacy, another deer entered the wood though was clearly vastly far more capable of handling the area and those in it. With a limp in his stride the stag cautiously treaded in, swiveling his ears this way and that listening intently to the area around him. Beneath his hooves was a layer of soft wet snow and below that was a thick layer of fallen leaves and other such foliage. Ducking his head to avoid trapping his rack of antlers in a mess of branches, the young stag slowed his pace. Valebrook's chocolate irises then explored the area curiously and his muzzle displayed a simple smile.

A grey hind slowly walked through the forest, usally with a clad but this time by herself.Hitanie steped lightly across the ground.her almost purple eyes gazed around the snow tinted forest.with every step, Hitanie left circular hoof prints.''hm..''Hitanie continued to walk slowly her tail flickering a bit.The reason Hitanie was not with her calf at the moment was because her sister, tetyana was taking care of him.Hitanie stoped suddenly and stood there smiling.Slowly opening her mouth she spoke''hello Valebrook..''a slight fog puffed away as she spoke, her voice so soft and gentil.A smile on her face, and her eyes a slight glitering as the su brst lightly through the trees.Hitanie stood there looking at the Outrider she met yesterday. One slender leg was crossed behined the other as she stood there bits of snow falling down onto there fur

Having heard the crunching snow and the soft breaths of the hind well before he could see her, Valebrook turned to gaze in her direction as she approached. Just as she stepped beyond snow covered brush the sunlight sent vibrant rays of light behind her, giving her an almost heavenly glow. Her silver fur glittered along with the rays and her gorgeous eyes seemed to sparkle like saphires. The stag's smile broudened as he took in the sight then gave the new mother a welcoming bow of his head. "Evening Hitanie. You seem well...where is your little one?" he asked curiously, noticing the young calf was not about. His nostrils flared as he mists of breath swirled from his mouth to disappear in front of him.

Hitanie smiled''he is with my sister today..''Hitanie nodded still smiling''How are you today..I hope your leg is healing up well..''Hitanie spoke softly, only her left ear twitched around for her right ear couldnt of something that happend long ago.Hitanie shufled her hooves slightly at one point and looked back up to Valebrook. He had strange antlers but they were a right lovely different sight to see.Kind of like Hitanies eye color and fur markings.Hitanie looked to them then thought it would be rather rude to stare .the hind shook her head making the snow come off then returning her soft gaze back to the Outrider

"I'll always have a limp, but my leg is fine otherwise," he answered, but was watching her carefully while at the same time pretending to be observant of their surroundings. He noticed how one of her ears was unable to move and inwardly he wondered what had happened to cause this, but knew it would be best to keep the question to himself and save himself the embarrassment. But nothing took away from her stunning appearance. Her oddly colored but certainly original colorations were intriguing but what was most captivating about her was her amazing eyes. They seemed so gentle too. Hearing the cry and the flapping of wings above, Valebrook turned his head upward to see a raven flying skyward. Unknowing what had caused the birds sudden movement, or if it was simply the whim of the raven, the stag returned his gaze to Hitanie. "How long have you known Pride?" he asked gently.

Hitanie watched the Raven then shook her head, slowly retuning her gaze back to Valebrook''Months now..''Hitanie gazed right at Valebrooks eyes. The gaze she gave him was a captive gaze yet sweet and gentil.Hitanie turnd''Would you like to take a walk with me?''Hitanie asked turning her head to Valebrook and smiling. Her tail flickered slightly. The snow patted slowftly down onto the ground making it thicker then it already was.Hitanie looked at her feet''If only the winter would stay longer..''Hitanie gave a sigh slightly then shook her head.''Oh sorry I was mumbling to myself wasnt I?''Hitanie smiled once more the Stag''Oh..you always had a limp..strange,its kind of like my ear in a way..''Hitanie said laughing softly

Curiously, Valebrook followed after Hitanie with his ears perked forward, listening to her. Personally, the bitting cold of winter had turned the stag away from wishing it would last longer and would easily admit his favorite season was autumn, but that was off the topic now. The snow crunched beneath his large hooves, creating prints that only were imperfect when his front leg smired the snow because of his limping. "If you don't mind my asking, what happened to your ear?" he asked gently, feeling it was alright now that she had brought up the subject.

Hitanie stoped suddenly''my father..''her words no longer soft but as cold as the ice.''He hurt me because oh what color I turnd out to be and of my strange eye color and markings..both of my parents haited me..''Hitanie walked on''But that sometimes happens I guess..''Hitane let out a soft sigh and smiled turning her head''But I'm not here to make people sad..''Hitanie smiled and slowed down to keep up with Valebrook.''So Valebrook why did you come to this herd? or were you born here..''Hitanie asked looking to Valebrook

Just as Hitanie started to continue forward Valebrook stopped his movement and stared, unable to believe what he was just told. Almost unable to speek, he searched for the right words to say that wouldn't offend her but at the same time try to understand. "Such cruelty. They were blind. How could they hate you for something as trivial as the color of your fur or your eyes...I think you're lovely just the way you are. In fact, one of the most brilliant deer I've ever met. Your unique colorations are to be prized not viewed as dishonorable," he spoke with a firm tone, though it was not ment to be at all hurtful toward Hitanie. Justice had not been done to her and that Valebrook couldn't stand.

He watched her leap from the edge of the forest and smiled softly, amazed by her forgivness and her patience. Had he grown up with two parents that hatted him he would have in turn despised every fiber of their being. But now the converstation was over and the past was behind them and so he'd stop his questions and enjoy this peaceful moment. There was one little problem, however...Valebrook had an issue with jumping any length because of the injury that had faltered his front leg. Landing on it from such a leap could splinter the bone. Giving it a little thought he decided to dash out from between the trees in an awkward run and joined Hitanie in the brilliant meadow. The fog seemed to dissipate where they stood and create a veil to the rest of the area circling them.

Hitanie smiled''Be carefull ok.''Hitanie turnd her head to look at him,she smiled so sweetly.Hitanie turnd to look forward and steped forward one step then stoped.''hm..''Looking around Hitanie smiled''Foggy..''Hitanie leaped into the fog dissapearing.then suddenly Hitanie reapeared and taged Valebrook on the tail''Hello..''hitanie walked up from behined him and smiled''hm..''Hitanie coughed slightly her throat slightly cold.Hitanie lay down for a momeny and rolled in the snow her coat having little clinging snow bits on it,but as she shook off all but her blizzard markings stayed''..''Hitanie let out a sighed slightly and walked on with Valebrook''Your a kind Outrider Valebrook, but if you dont mind me asking but is it hard to be an Outrider with your leg?''Hitanie said turning her head to face valebrook

He was surprised when she had disappeared into the fog only to return beside him with a tap on his tail but gave a slight chuckle, amused with her playful nature. She was still a young hind, that was obvious, but Valebrook found it grand for her to keep that youthfulness that most deer quickly grow out of. But noticing the cough he hoped that she wasn't gaining a nasty cold. Smiling he walked along side her, comfortable in doing so despite he truly didn't know her very well. "It's proven...challenging, though luckly I have yet to come across a time when my leg has proven to be a true problem. The wolves and foxes seem to have been avoiding the herd lately, so I haven't been given the chance to test what I can and can't do. Still, I doubt it will be long till the other Outriders notice my disability and I'll probably be stripped of the position."

Hitanie looked to Valebrook again, listening to his words.''Well if that dose happen, you can always come and talk with me..''Hitanie smiled but it was a weak smile just in case she said the wrong thing.''But I know you dont wnt that to happen..''hitanie flickered her tail and smiled to Valebrook continuing to walk on.''But it is a good thing, right that no Lera or men are coing to the herd?''hitanie asked looking to Valebrook again her eyes soft and her words Gentil.

If or more like when he would be demoted from the Outrider rank, he would make sure to visit Hitanie whenever he could, not minding the idea at all. But still walking forward he glanced in her direction before back out into the dense fog. "I believe so. We haven't had to many problems...except it really isn't the lera that worry me," he answered as he walked, looking into Hitanie's eyes. "The Fallen are starting to stir."
