The episode aired today at 12:30, I just finished watching it. If any of you have Nick2 (the west feed), it'll air again at 3:30 EST today.
Summary: (don't read if you don't want to be spoiled!)
The opening Sportacus segment involves him fencing (yes, with an actual sword) and a frozen sportscandy shishkabob. Yum.
(the opening and Bing Bang are as normal, the Christmas versions from Surprise Santa don't return)
The actual episode begins with Stephanie preparing to play a snow monster catching game with the other kids. She borrows a furry white hat from Uncle Milford as he leaves to go ice fishing. The kids begin their game. Stingy and Ziggy run about screaming, and Trixie attempts to capture Steph with a huge net.
Naturally, the noisy kids awaken poor Robbie with their screeching and jumping. Robbie and his adorable fluffy orange earmuffs are upset. He peers through the periscope and is scared by Stephanie's 'disguise'. After a few seconds, he realizes that the 'snow monster' was just Stephanie and he becomes even more annoyed. Robbie happens to have a conveniently placed snow monster suit in his lair, so he dons that and heads up to shut up those kids.
Meanwhile, the patch of ice Uncle Milford is fishing on isn't as stable as he thought. The ice begins to crack, and Sportacus is summoned as per usual, donning a sleek striped blue scarf (oddly enough, his muscular arms are still exposed.). The mayor swings his fishing hook up to Sportacus's plane (the one where the cockpit detaches from the airship) and Sportacus fishes him out of the lake.
Following that rescue, the kids ask Sportacus what he did in the snow when he was little. Sportacus mentions his affinity for building igloos, and the igloo construction begins with a new snow song from Stephanie. It's a nice song, and the shots of Stephie making snow angels are cute, but it just didn't have that catchy Lazytown vibe for me.
The kids hang out in their hut for a bit, and Pixel leaves to bring out a boombox. Then, 'snow monster' Robbie comes along. The poor kids are scared out of their minds, but Stephanie comes up with a daring snowball attack plan. They prepare to attack and hit...Uncle Milford. The kids tell Uncle Milford about the trememdously scary snow monster, and they pop out of the igloo to investigate. Robbie appears on cue, and they run into the house to hide.
They can't stay in the house all winter, so Stephanie comes up with another plan. She places the furry fishing hat on Ziggy and places him atop the mayor's shoulders, and drapes a sheet over them in a makeshift snow monster disguise. Pixel runs into Robbie on the way back, and is scared back into his house. Trixie decides to be brave and catch the monster with her net, leaving Stephanie and Stingy behind in the house.
The Ziggy/Milford snowmonster and the Robbie snowmonster run into each other a few times, scaring each other and stumbling away. Trixie corners the Robbie snowmonster near the tree, but he ends up scaring her into it and he leaves. The branch Trixie is clinging to begins to crack, and Sportacus comes along to catch her. Trixie tells Sportacus about the snowmonster, and the Ziggy/Milford monster stumbles onto the screen. Sportacus attacks with a flurry of snowballs, and Ziggy and Milford are dazed. Back in the house, Stephanie and Stingy wonder if everyone will survive.
Robbie stumbles out to the lake, and falls right into Milford's fishing hole. Sportacus summons an anchor and fishes him out the same way he saved Milford earlier in the episode. Robbie lets go and drops to the ground, yanking off his mask. After the obligatory surprised gasp of 'Robbie Rotten!', Robbie moans about how cold he is and sulks away. The kids laugh and the Bing Bang begins as Sportacus flies away.
The ending Robbie segment features Robbie wrapped up in fluffy orange blankets fishing a stray fish out of his vest.
Remarks and Opinions:
New to this episode: Robbie's furry orange earmuffs, Sportacus's lovely scarf, and Sporty's new snowboard. Fun stuff.
The song: Stephanie sings about snow and the winter. It's very atmospheric and the choreography is cute, but the tune didn't stick in my mind.
Robbie the Snow Monster is more cute than scary. He almost looks like Sulley from Monsters, Inc.
Sportacus doesn't dance in the Bing Bang at all. Guess they've gotta hide Stephie's height somehow.
I liked it overall, but I've seen better episodes.
Quotes: (I took notes but they might not be verbatim)
"It's the tremendously scary snow monster!" -Milford and the kids
-"If she [Trixie] gets eaten by the snowmonster, can I have all her toys?"-Stingy
-"A snow monster scaring the kids? This is serious."-Sportacus
