Ooc: Just figured I'd start this now, since I was in a writing mood. :3
Ic:
The day had yet to dawn so darkness covered the meadow, a sinking moon still watching over the sleeping Herla. Tucked away beneath a large oak tree, Dyani let out a small sigh. This night had been a long one, and now, exhausted but joyous, she looked down at the tiny bundles curled up against her side for warmth. They had been born when the moon was high; as it fell she had washed the two fawns dry, nudging them gently until they had begun to feed.
Now she lifted her head off the ground and looked around, searching the shadows for the deer she knew were nearby. When it had started, Dyani had wandered off, asking them to stay behind. For this she'd needed solitude, but now, she wanted them to appear, so they could see how happy she was and to show off the two newcomers that held her heart so tightly. Licking the closest fawn on the head, she admired them a moment more, shifting her back legs into a more comfortable position.
Life had never seemed quite as real as it was in this moment. Everything around her seemed to have doubled in beauty. Once again the hind looked around, searching for the two she knew would have to be close by: Tegwen and Drystan. Now Dyani had four young females to look after. Instead of being daunted by that notion, she was delighted. Four times the happiness! Another lick or two, brief thinking of names and a light doze filled the next few minutes.
The dark blue sky had begun to lighten, in the soft light Dyani lay beside her two daughters and simply smiled.

True to his word with Lailoken, Fell Lore had not taken any new hinds during the recently passed Anlach. He had, miraculously, been excused from many fights with his Outriders, and now he gazed out from his hill over his herd's lands, content in knowing that soon there would be at least one more young Herla born to the herd of his blood.
Dyani's time was close, he knew, but how close, he did not. He lifted his head to watch was the moon descended slowly down through the sky, its radiant white light casting the world into a whitewash of dark contrast. Something stirred within him, and he knew then that something had happened. It was a good thing, this he could feel, and he felt more certain with every passing moment that Dyani's time had come and passed. Without so much as a backward glance, the Lord descended from his throne.
Drystan felt sour. She had only recently accepted Dyani as her new caretaker, and it was completely unfair that her life was now to be interrupted once more by the birth of Fell Lore's new fawns. Yes, fawns, for there were two to be born. She paused to consider the irony - did the Lord even know he would have two new daughters before the new day arrived? Surely he did not, for he must have more to do than to find out about the two youngsters.
The melanistic fawn huffed, standing up to stretch her legs. She was a spirited one, that was for sure, for she could never sit for long without getting horrendous itches in her legs for want to move about. She could see Tegwen a little ways off, fairly glowing in the moonlight from the bright light of the moon. It did not do to keep the black fawn waiting so long. She wondered how she would react to the fawns. Already, she could feel resentment toward them. She could almost feel her own hostility. She pushed the feelings away. She would at least make an effort to like the two new fawns, she decided. She didn't enjoy the idea. With the four of them, Dyani would have little time to spare. Drystan grumbled slightly to herself, settling down into a curled ball. She would see them in the morning. But not before.

The little white fawn had waited all afternoon.... and then all night. And now that it was dawn, she could hardley contain it any longer. The excitement surged through her little body like a drug, speeding her pulse and causing a hard shiver to wriggle her figure. She stood quickley from her resting spot, sneezing with slight morning aggitation. She hadn't slep much the during the twilight, unable to get herself calm enough for a truely deep state. Her head whipped around in search of her twin, who was no where to be found. The black deer hadn't been nearly as excited as she, anyway, and Tegwen had been growing steadily independant since their adoption. Though she was still almost too attatched to Drys, she could sleep alone now, and even start her day alone. A much earlier riser by nature, she didn't bother waiting for Drys to awaken to go see the new additions to her family.
Tegwen practically skipped towards the mother and twins, a broad smile on her face. It was recently that she learned through Dyani's adoption, she had gained a half brother of sorts, and now she was gaining to younger sisters! A large, complicatedly related family fit into her life quite nicely, and was a dream of hers since their whore mother's disappearence. "Dyaaanniiii?" The little thing called out as softly as she could, not wanting to disturb the little ones, wherever they may be. She couldn't wait to see them, their little furry bodies held up by too long legs. Oh, what a way to start the day.

Now the sky was tinged with pink, allowing Dyani to see a stronger outline of the two fawns she'd birthed during the night. It was quite apparent that one had much fur darker for than the other, something that brought Tegwen and Drystan to mind, but the lack of light didn't let her glimpse any real details. The hind yawned, than licked a small dark head. As a low call came from nearby, her ears flickered back, head turning to watch Tegwen's approach.
Dyani enjoyed having the twins around. After she had meant them, the three had spent most days together. Each time Dyani looked around, those two fawns were trailing behind, talking and admiring the world. Just seeing them made her happy, and even though lately they were a lot more independent, at evening she would search them out just to make sure they were keeping clean and were happy. That company was something she had come to look forward to each day.
"Tegwen? Oh Tegwen, come look! Where's Drystan? Aren't they so wonderful?"

"Drystan is right here," Came the sleepy grumble as the black fawn emerged from the shadows beside Tegwen. "How much louder does one have to be in order to wake an entire herd, Teg?" She complained as the rosy soft light fell upon the world and Dyani and the new fawns' outlines sharpened. She knew Tegwen would fall onto the fawns the moment she saw them, and took the advantage of taking the first step. At least if she saw them soon enough, perhaps they would bug her less. She leaned forward toward the little figures curled up together, only perhaps half the size of herself and her snowy counterpart. One was visibly lighter than the other, and this one's very pose seemed to pose a question. Drystan stared curiously at her, though she felt little interest pouring forth toward the fawns.
Dawn was soon to arrive, and the sky was streaked with a soft pastel pink as Fell carefreely wandered toward the meadows, as if he had all the time in the world with him. And perhaps it was true, for during the dawn hours, his Outriders were patiently guarding the herd, and would all assume him asleep unless with a matter of utmost urgency. Today was such a day, and he would not be sought out until the sun was almost at its peak in the sky.
The tall stag could see the sleeping outlines of the hinds and does, smiling to himself as his wound his way carefully around them, his light footfalls belying his sizeable frame. The scent was more familiar here. One was definitely Dyani, two others he did not quite recognize - and assumed were the twins the hind had taken in - and two that he had not smelled before, but felt as if he had known all his life. Gently, the Lord pushed away a tangle of branches with his antlers to reveal his beloved Dyani, and two fawns peering at something. The stark contrast in the fawns' coats startled him, for he had heard of Tegwen and Drystan, but had never imagined them to be such the complete opposite of the other. Jet black and pure white, they stood, their backs to him as he watched quietly, and waited.

The snowy fawn, wide eyed and excited, peered curiousley at the two forms lying in the grass. Sleepy little things, she mused, and let out a quick giggle, before looking anxiousley at Dyani. "What are their names?" A look was shot at her twin as she came to realize that the new commers in the herd were also a pair. Perhaps they would share such a bond as the ying and yang fawns did? Or perhaps their relationship had become so strong due to their hardships? Only time would show as the new additions grew in their twistedly odd family. After all, they had two adoptive older sisters to play and harass them, a father with enough prestige to make them known through the herd over night, and a mother who didn't truely fit in with the other hinds, but was the perfect puzzle piece in the lives of the deer she was surrounded by.
The rustle of brush behind her was barely noticed by Tegwen as she whispered to her sister. "You gotta admit, Drys; they're cute." Her gaze quickly returned to the young bodies in awe. The little pair were quite adorable, each sporting a swirling parttern at their shoulders. The darker of the pair, the albino was quite pleased to see, shared the grey saddle pattern that Dyani did, which had been afavorite physical feature of the hind for Teg since she had met her. With a smile, she tilted her head to the side and sighed. Yeah, this family would do.

Dyani welcomed Drystan with a smile. "Names? Oh, they don't have names yet. I've been thinking though. What do you think would be a good name Tegwen?" The hind stared thoughtfully down at the two huddled fawns, possible names running through her mind. "I'll think of something soon." There was no rush, though no doubt that subject would be ofthe highest priority and the next few days would be sent staring at the sky and thinking about it. She had always been the type to let one thing stick in her mind so thoroughly she couldn't possibly turn her thoughts to other things.
Her smile sweetened as she stared past Drystan and Tegwen. After nuzzling the two newborns once more, she moved her tired body onto her knees and then stood. "Fell." It was actually quite a relief to be standing, to be able to stretch her legs, though Dyani would certainly be happy to lie down and sleep within a few more minutes. "Aren't they wonderful?" She whispered softly. Oh, she'd known he would come. Now she was delighted to be able to show him the fawns she'd born him.

"There are two," Fell whispered just as softly, so as not to wake the sleeping forms. Only through his disciplined self control did he keep himself from lifting his head in a joyous bellow to the skies. "They have yet to be named?"
Drystan shrunk back at the appearance of the mighty stag, ears swept back against her head as she melted in with the shadows of the early morning, regarding the Lord from afar. He was everything she had heard him to be, and more, and his very presence intimidated her like no other had before.

The albino fawn, who had been so absorbed in the newborns that she hadn't heard the great stag comming, noticed her sister shrinking in the corner of her eye. Somewhere in her brain, a connection was made that Drystan didn't shrink ever, and that if she was, something absolutley horrble was comming. Her large eyes grew even larger as she turned about at a deep and vibrating voice. There he stood, in all his might and glory; the lord of the herd. Tegwen moved away, back towards her twin, feeling a sudden need to be close to her. He was so large, so incredible looking, that for a small little thing such as herself, it was entirely intimidating. "Dyrs," she whispered hoarsley, "that's...Fell Lore?"

Leaving the fawns side for a second, Dyani pressed her nose against the proud Fell's neck in a loving gesture. "Mmhmm. That makes four now." She told him, her voice soft and dreamy. With that statement she had entwined the older twins into the family. That they were not blood didn't matter at all. Drystan and Tegwen were her fawns too.
Dyani moved back to the two newborns, both snuggled together in a tangle of limbs, eyes closed in a light doze. Folding her legs neatly under her body, she lay down beside them. "Drystan... Tegwen. Come lay with us." She cajoled, giving them both a broad smile. "And we can think of names."

"That's Fell Lore," Drystan replied, her voice equally soft and strained as she looked upon the great stag with ever-growing awe. Watched, even, and almost collapsed as he turned his head ever so slightly and winked at them with an icy blue eye.
Fell smiled, and nodded. "That would make four," He agreed, moving a little out of the way for the albino and melanistic fawns to approach. He made no move, wisely, to join them, for his antlers would only have gotten into their way. He stood close by, off to the side, regarding the newly born fawns with joy. He could sense that his presence had overawed both the black and the white fawn before him - he hated that. If anything, he wished not to be so intimidating. Perhaps the two newborns would be less humbled by him? He did so hope so.
Drystan was, indeed, in shock, and she moved rather mechanically over to the two newborns. Straining to control herself so she would not collapse onto the ground, she laid herself down and nosed at the twins. "Well... I don't have any ideas," She mumbled, keeping her gaze anywhere but on the Lord.

Tegwen followed her twin numbley, folding her legs beneath her neatly on the other side of the newborns. Her eyes were glued to Dyani, as if it came a shock that the hind had stood with such an intimidating being. She had known, of course, that her adopted mother was part of the lord's harem, but it had never really clicked in her mind that it meant she was associated with such powerful antlers come Anlach. Her brain numbed over, and for once the smart alec had nothing to say.
When here eyes met the heads of the little ones to her side, however, she was once again filled with the excitement and warmth that had completely captivated her in the beginning. With an uneasy, yet not so nervous as before, glance tossed at Fell, she smiled at Dyani widely. If he was safe enough for Dyani, he was safe enough for her. At least, that was the logic working in her small mind. "I dunno, really. They're both so cute..." Her nose scrunched up a little as she sniffed the one closest to her.

The hind wasn't blind to the reactions of Drystan and Tegwen to their adopted father. Was Fell lore truly that imposing? Certainly he was impressive, but... well, they were only young, and he was so big. Dyani threw away her line of thought. More important things needed to be discussed. When they got close enough both of the older twins got a loving nuzzle and lick. Truly, it was quite a quaint little circle of deer.
The little dark furred one moved slightly, lifting her head from where it had been resting across her sister's back. One little pink tongue whipped out to lick the nose of Tegwen as the white fawn sniffed.
Dyani chuckled. "Oh yes, they're so adorable." She nuzzled the lighter coloured one, who continued to doze. "I think this one looks like... Oh, Fell I think I've picked names. This little one here..." Pausing in speech she nudged the sleeping fawn with the lighter coat. "... will be Seianna. And the other can be... Maysa. I think they're both such pretty names. Do you like what I chose?"

Fell nodded. "They are noth wonderful names, Dyani." He said with a smile. He watched as the fawns sniffed curiously at the town older fawns, blinking their oversized eyes innocently. The Lord chuckled. They were so small, and they looked so frail it was almost as if even the wind could break them in two. "It's hard to believe any of us were ever so small." He said with a chuckle.
"Oh, you could never have been small, Lord Fell," Drystan piped up. Her interest was, by far, much more focused on the massive stag that was her adoptive father than the two newly birthed fawns, and she gazed upon him with no small amount of admiration as he looked down and smiled warmly at her. She was still overawed by him, to be sure, but in that awe, she had found a little standing ground on which she now stood and conversed smilingly with the Lord.
Fell chuckled. "Enough with the Lord, dearheart. You are Dyani's daughter, and that alone makes you more family than those other younglings. Fell would be more than enough for me."
Drystan nodded. "Alright, Fell," She said, as if testing her newfound ability to call the Lord by name. "But you could never have been as small as Seianna and Maysa." She said those names, too, as if she were testing them, and gave a nod of approval so small it could only have been unconcious afterward.
