Is it possible that, once a fire has already started, firebenders are able to put it out?

i don't think so... because in the deserter, aang makes zhao light all his ships on fire, and he can't put them out... plus, jeong jeong is going on about how firebending is a burden and all that jazz... it wouldn't be such a burden if they could just put out fires before they cause any damage...

But, again in that episode, we see Jeong Jeong make a huge wall of fire, and then, put it out. [Zhao also parts this wall of fire...] And, I thinkj Zhao was just mad, because the damage had already been done...

im not sure, but i think they are able to. they're fire'benders', they may start the fires, but they can also control it once they make it (like zukos lil firewhip things in the season finale.) i mean if water benders can make a wall of ice and bend it back into water, i think a firebender wud be able to put out a fire

but its different from just parting the fire, and actually putting it out... i dont know...

Yes, they can put it out. It's more difficult than creating it, but it can be done, even if it requires shrinking the fire down to an incredibly tiny size or dispersing the heat into the air.

Study there. In the Agni Kai, Zhao SPLIT the fire, so that it would not touch him, and once the firebender, switches to a different attack, they lose control of the origional fire, so with nothing left to burn, it dissapates... But what I want to know is, a fire is burning down a tree, can the firebender put it out? PS: I just watched the waterbending master... again... ^^;
