As a 3.0 Campain Setting, Forgotten Realms doesn't get used as much anymore. I was wondering if anyone here has used it or still uses it?
if I ever manage to convince myself to start DMing, my first adventure would probually be in Faerun <.< (and not simply because I'm to lazy to invent my own world...)

Usually you just have to get the DM to do a little tweaking with stats and other things.

Just remember that you can modify the parts and pieces of that 3.0 setting to 3.5 when you need it. A campaign setting is really just filler and background anyway. I love the Realms. I'm running it right now and it's still a great tool for use in the 3.5 edition rules. And the best thing about what's written is that it can be changed (as long as you can remember your changes).
My second favorite is Dragonlance. Of course the 3.5 (or 3.0) edition really sucked. It was poorly written by what I've heard and no maps were even included!!!! If you think of using this as a setting I would suggest getting the AD&D 2nd Edition Setting for Dragonlance and modifying it.
I also heard Eberron is picking up steam. I've read a couple novels on the setting and they are really well put together. I can't wait till I get my copy in the mail!!!! rofl

I'm... not to fond of Eberron sweatdrop
I've played alot of games in it (because I used to help run a D&D guild in college and they always ended up playing in it) and just about every game I've seen set in that ended badly...

Was the end because of PC issues? Or did something specific contribute to the downfall?

a bit of both, like how people handled some of stuff that was in there it's also been almost a year sence I've played in ebberon, so for all I know they changed some of the things people had problems with but I really don't have much intention on giving it another shot anytime soon confused

That's cool. I wasn't sure if there was something really broken about it or whatever.

When i DM, i play in Faerun. I don't see why it doesn't get used more often, it's a great system, i love that humans get subraces.

IMAO Eberron sucks, because it has technomagic and passports (What a crap!). It's a real bad setting compared to the FR, and it's so "dark" that none sees the flaws of its background... Well... I've never seen a serious D&D player playing that, just trendy kids hopping the D&D train.

Eh, I have mixed feelings about Planescape...
though I like the setting, it seems like a power-gamer's paradice with outsiders of any type readly on hand, people tend moreso just to focus just on how to become as powerfull as posable and undermind other aspects of their charicters in the process... sweatdrop

We're doing pretty well so far at avoiding that sort of thing, so hopefully it'll continue to be good.

When I DM and when I play I use Forgotten Realms. It is much easier for me to use an already set up world. Sometimes it gets annoying becuase I have a friend who knows as much about Faerun as I do, and he always tries to tell me what kind of monster is in an area, and I usually make them up, according to character level.
When I play, my main character is a Drow. He's kickass.

DM's in Forgotten Realms is running a campaign as we speak which is funny cause this campaign book i bought is the first i've ever used and i am very impressed on it's mechanics and my players have been on toes since it started

As a DM/Player I will only ever run in the forgotten realms, Mainly because Im such a fan, but also because the rest of the campaign settings piss me off and I hate them.
