i like Christmas Eve, when our family lights candles, sings old songs, and we pray for each other.
but that seems like a tiny positive weight against the tons of hype and stress and commerce and phony cheer we get this time of year.
i would rather let the philistines take over Christmas completely and just give us back the name; call it Yule or Winterfest or something.
then we can move our quiet celebration to someplace that needs a holiday, like August.
Meh, for me the big event has been Midnight Mass ever since I was old enough to go to church on my own... the greed fest doesn't mean a whole lot to me at all.
