Ok, so I'm getting alot of new people to join Gaia and to join my guild so I figured I'd help you guys out a bit by explaining things better then the Gaia Tour (wich doesn't really tell you much)

heart Commons = they are items available to you in the stores
heart Monthly Collectables (formerly known as Donation Items) = items you can purchase with Gaia Gold (in the marketplace) or by real money (money orders, credit card, ect)
heart Daily Chance = every day you get a daily chance to win free stuff (it's generally crap but sometimes you get some neat stuff)
heart PMs = PMs are like an internal email only for Gaia members
heart Events = Events happen generally every holiday you can get free stuff during all events (Halloween, Xmas, easter, ect)
heart Games = games can either win you gold or tickets (puzzles and words bump will get you gold and cards and slots will get you tickets)
heart Gold = Gold is the currency of Gaia, you can use it for everything and you get it almost all the time!
heart Tokens = you can buy tokens at the Casino (in Isle de Gambino) tokens will get you playing games like cards and slots, tokens become tickets when played
heart Tickets = you can trade your tickets in for free stuff at the Casino!
heart Fishing = Fishing is a game of it's own, it's exactly what it sounds like you fish! fish you can collect (large ammounts get you free stuff) or you can sell 'em! (be sure to buy bait first or you won't be aible to fish! also, remember to use the whole ammount of bait or you will loose everything and that'll suck! right Ren?) Also, there is three places to fish Bass'ken Lake (easy), Port of Gambino (moderate) and Durem Rec Facility (Hard!!!)
heart Forums = Forums are basically chat rooms, theirs polls and stuff and theirs generally a forums for every interest imaginable!
heart Guilds = Guild can cost money or be free to join (depending on the guild) their almost generally topic specific
heart Marketplace = the "Ebay" of Gaia! lol no, seriously! that's how it works put what you wanna sell in the marketplace and people can either bid or buy your items! (to use the market place you need a trading pass and a vending pass, you can buy those at the Gaia bank)
heart Towns = you get to walk around and interact with people, shake tree and rocks and shrubs and you get gold! you can visit other peoples houses and chat their as well (you can even read their journals!)
heart Shops = shop t'ill you drop! lol decorate your avatar as you like
heart Salon = change your hairstyle in the salon (just make sure it's one you cuz you can't keep the hair you Had, so what you buy is what ur stuck with... that is untill you change ur hair again!)
heart Trade = Trading is exactly that! you use it to trade or give stuff to other people
