!!SPOILER!! (Just in case you missed the title. ^_^)

I finished the new Jarlaxle and Artemis novel Road of the Patriarch a little bit ago, and was wondering what others thought of it. It was kind of disappointing to me, as it seems Artemis is right back at square one - miserable, and without a purpose. Also, the book as a whole sorta seemed to drag. I guess R.A.S. spoiled me with all of his other books being so full of action. This one just seemed liked non-stop talking and intrigue. stare

So, what'd you guys think?

I haven't gotten to this one yet, but I really look forward to the Sellswords series as Artimus is my faverate charicter

Oh, I LOVED it. Except Jarlaxle, he's back to being a butt, and I no longer like him. I FINALLY learned the meaning of that paragraph at the end of Servant of the shard, the whole, "I love you like a brother, but then again, I don't really like my brothers, because they and the rest of my family sacrificed me when I was born" NEver in the world would have guessed that he's the blessed of Lolth. But it fits. She likes Chaos, he causes SO much commotion.

Yeah, I do like that there's more explanation for Jarlaxle in this one, that was it's main redeeming virtue. You couldn't possibly find a better person to stir up chaos than Jarlaxle. ^_^

gotta love Jarlaxle. But he was stupid and idiotic and is no longer even in the running for fave. Character. It's now Entreri all the way. Before it was Entreri, but Jarlaxle lead a close second.

I have a random line across my new comp. screen that bugs the heck outa me.

My friend Renae likes Jarlaxle. Kinda like she likes Perrin in WoT while I like Mat... Perrin whines too much. JArlaxle is too careless, doesn't pay enough attention to what he's doing to others. Like setting Entreri up as the king of that country? That ruined his relationship. And JArlaxle wonders why his friend is mad at him...

Yes it is very interesting and cool that he used to be one of her chosen. I very much like the way R.A. chose to end the series and it was done very tasteful and tactfully which left me feeling fa filled. Jarlxe led Entry down a rode of acceptance and self discovery I'm not sure even he envisioned, and in a way I hate him for it. I'm not denying that Artemis was not the greatest of people before his relationship with Jarlxe began. But Jarlxe did some thing to him I deem unforgivable he opened him up to the worst kind of pain and vulnerability and one he had painstakingly shut him self off from emotion. By making him confront his past thus unraveling all the things that made him the feared and powerful Artemis Entry.
