I can not believe what happened at the November 7th elections. It seems that every law went wrong for me in my opinion but the main one is that in the state of Missouri they passed the stem cell research law. I was devestated. I think that all it does is incourage abortion. People dont understand how its killing someone. They say that killing a puppy inside of a dog is murder yet when you kill a fetus inside of a human it isnt murder. (and both the puppy and fetus have heart beats) And they said that this is okay because it is for stem cell research... Makes sense?! Well not to me. Tell me your guys opinions and what is going on in your state. (I may move due to the laws changing here badly in Missouri)

I'm not sure here...all i know is that Feat Stem Cell research has shown to be rather fruitless in all the time it has been researcged. You have far more results with other stem cells.

revolting really
We elected this jackass of a governor who just finished abusing another positition of his to prosicute pro-life organizations for no reason. He kept trying to shut them down with really silly legal cases. My guess was he was trying to suck money out of them in court costs.
Now he's running the state...

nuwa I think that all it does is incourage abortion. People dont understand how its killing someone. How does using stem cells for research purposes encourage abortion? And how are these cells being killed?

Stem cells taken form aborted embryp and feti really does no good as these same stem cells can be taken from fully grown humans, basic stem cells can be taken form umbilical blood and placenta.
Its a pointless death

i suppport stem cell research to the effect that they can get it from donated embical cord blood and or non contaminated amniotic fluid thats it we don't need to kill babies for the further advancment when we have thousands of babies born everyday who could donate cord blood to the cuase even if just a little blood wink

Or you could look at the fact that embreonic stem cell research has done no good, especially in comparison to the other methods of getting stem cells.

I don't know what's going on in the UK.
I figure that anything done with adult stem cells (from umbilical cord blood/bone marrow) is fine. Why not? As far as I know, umbilical cord blood gets thrown away otherwise. If it can be used to save or increase the quality of life, why not?
As for embryonic stemm cells, I'm not sure. I'd have to find out more about it before I could comment fully. I suppose that if a foetus was already aborted/miscarried (grisly though it may be) - if the mother has given consent, and again, it could save/improve lives, why not?

I think stem-cell research should be legal. Why dishonor the memories of these children by throwing them away like common refuse when at least a little sense can be made from their otherwise sensless deaths? Until abortion, with a few exceptions, is made illegal, stem-cell research should be allowed.

Because many view it as human medical research without consent (a far fetched reason, but still one) Other view it as desicration of a dead humabody. Then other see that embrynic stem cell research has been showing no positive signs for years. Other know you can get the same stem cells form the placenta, umbilical cord, umbilical blood, and amniotic fluid.
The only reason why stem cell researchs (not all mind you) support embryonic stem cell research is because yo can cultivate more from a single source.

Tiger of the Fire Because many view it as human medical research without consent (a far fetched reason, but still one) Can't be pro-choice people. That would require they acknowledge them as human beings first. As far as that being a basis for a negative opinion on the subject...seems like a rather silly stance to take, considering they've already been murdered. :/ Quote: Other view it as desicration of a dead humabody. That's an angle from which I'm -really- not going to be comfortable looking. My friends always thought I was weird in high school, because my final wish was to be eaten by tigers. Mostly because I wanted the cells which once constituted my body to be introduced back into the ecosystem in the most kickass manner possible. I love big cats, and the idea of the breaking down of my cells being used as energy to power their amazing bodies is just so cool to me. Don't get me wrong, I love my life pretty well, and am in no way -eager- for that to happen. It would just be cool to me if it could. :X Quote: Then other see that embrynic stem cell research has been showing no positive signs for years. Penicilin was disregarded in it's infancy as useless. Stem cell research is just getting started, when compared to other commonplace avenues of study, like antibiotics. Quote: Other know you can get the same stem cells form the placenta, umbilical cord, umbilical blood, and amniotic fluid. The only reason why stem cell researchs (not all mind you) support embryonic stem cell research is because yo can cultivate more from a single source. It just seems like a horrible waste on top of a horrible waste to me. Two wrongs don't make a right. Hindering possible medical progress for the rest of us is not going to bring these children back. After abortion laws were revised, and abortion abolished, a position against stem-cell research from the cells of aborted fetuses may perhaps make a little more sense, although, being outrightly opposed to it in any form would not, considering no death is required to obtain the cells.

Thing is 99% of the time, stem cells from Feti will not work out, and do not add anything to research, I'd be much better using the marrow stem cells, they are far more used in stem cell research.
I think I got that right, and I am in favor (of the bone marrow one) due to my moms worsening diabetes, hopefully they will find a way to ensure her pancrease will work for future diabetics.

Master Kaiser Thing is 99% of the time, stem cells from Feti will not work out, and do not add anything to research, That's why they don't use stem cells from fetuses, but rather from embryos. Fetuses don't have any more stem cells than adults.

Noneo of those reason were given as factual reaosn to be agianst embrionic stem cell research, mearly as personal reason for why some are against it.
You'de be surprised at how many pro-choicers see the unborn as human. Its personhood they argue.
Its a horrible waist when a chiled is killed by abortion (or any other form of killing) I see using their boies for medical research when you can get the same stem cells from other sources as addining insult to injury.
And I'm not out right apposed to stem cell research. I'm apposed to embrinonic stem cell research. I agree that the supply that researchers already have should be used up. But once dry I think they should start looking strongly twards alternatives.
I'm also the typ of person who personly feels that the bodies of all things dead should be respected, even capitsal murderes and treasoners deserve that respect in my opinoin. Thats just me though, I dont expect others to support it nor understand it.
OMG! I love big cats too 4laugh Spucificly tigers. As well as the fact that they are the animal i seem to identafy with most (save for the lack of monogomy they show) even though my mate feels I'm closer to the horse (unless I'm currently doing...ummm...somethign else >.> then the tiger inme shines <.<) Furry for teh win baby!

What they generally want to use are the leftovers from invitro fertilization. xalisae Tiger of the Fire Because many view it as human medical research without consent (a far fetched reason, but still one) Can't be pro-choice people. Don't get me wrong, I love my life pretty well, and am in no way -eager- for that to happen. It would just be cool to me if it could. :X Oh no, I completely agree. It would be awesome for my body to return to the cycle of life after I'm dead. However, even though I'd love to, I wouldn't want to force it upon anyone else. Also, it would not be using dead fetii or embryos in any case, as the stem cells would be useless dead. The entire use purpose of using stem cells is that they are undifferentiated and could, conceivably, become anything, and could be used to repair any system in the body. So they have to still be alive, meaning that it is research on -living human beings,- not dead human beings. Quote: Quote: Then other see that embrynic stem cell research has been showing no positive signs for years. Penicilin was disregarded in it's infancy as useless.
