I like Salvatore better.
Plus, last year I was able to meet him and talk to him a little about my own writing. It was awesome.

A Group of books that is nice for transferring over is either the anthologies or The War of The Spider Queen books. The war of the spider queen basically had R.A Salvatore lay out the basic plot line and then hand it off to 6 new authors to write the individual books.

I do like Salvatore, but I had to chose Greenwood. His Spellfire series is what really started me with this RPG hobby of mine. Ok, so it's an obsesssion!! rofl In any event, Greenwood was an instrumental part in our realms becoming a reality. Hell, he was one of the first characters played in the realms. Not only that, he's also a really cool guy to talk to.

To some extent this thread is a bit hypocritical of me because I myself cannot choose between the two. I like both of their writing styles and while Salvatore is basically behind all the story structure behind the drow, Greenwood is one of the people who built forgotten realms from the beginning.

The biggest reason I chose Greenwood is because he's responsible for most of the writing done for the Realms. It is definitely a hard choice though. The history and structure of the drow was hammered out by Salvatore, who was one of the few who chose to take the time to show the history of an evil part of a race. I wish I had the kind of creativity these two individuals have!!!!

I voted Salvatore. He started the series (I think), so that's an extra point for him, but he he also has wonderfully in-depth characters. I've spent my past few nights up until two reading his books just becuase I couldn' put it down.

Raistlin_84 I voted Salvatore. He started the series (I think) I think Greenwood started the Realms acually, he wrote the Campain Setting not to mention Elminster is like the unoffical spokesman for the Relams

i like both of them, both are great writers, and for those of you who havn't already started to read it, there is a continuation of the War of the Spider Queen, its called Sacrifice of the Widow, by Lisa Smedman, but i got to tell ya, shes good, but Salvator's better, your going to be suprised when you finsh it, and its just the first book of three, look into it^^
