Owl Gryphons are a very common animal found both in the wild and as pets. They are intelligent and very friendly, making them good companions for children. Slightly larger than a housecat, they tend to be a bit plump and fly for only short distances. They feed mainly on small rodents and fish but will eat insects if necessary.
Owl Gryphons were one of the first beasts domesticated by sentient races, and thus have been bred selectively for generations. They come in the widest variety of colors of any beast currently known. Wild and domestic Owls interbreed regularly, making the differences between the two very ill-defined. As a general rule, Owls with very bright colors or unlikely patterning are rarely seen in the wild.
