I took my GRE's today and it struck me: We should have information concerning graduate school in thread form.

Many of you said in your application for joining the guild "I sure would like to be a XXXXXXX Psychologist, boy howdy!" Well in nearly every case graduate schools ig oing to be involved. I know some of our members plan on such a continued education, while some of our other members are allready in graduate school.

This thread is for questions anyone has questions regarding graduate programs, and th various requirements thay might have.

Hey everyone, sorry I've been strangely absent for a while (I was in Vermont sans internet). I just thought this would be the appropriate place to throw out that I have Management been accepted and and going to attend the University of Glasgow for grad school. I will be in the Management research program, which is a one year intensive masters after which I'll be going after a Ph.D..

I've been considering taking my Ph.D. in Glasgow. What are the requirements like? I'm just finishing my 5th year and graduating this spring with my degree. From there, it's a little fuzzy... eek

How long will you be there for?

I'll be here for a year. It's pretty nice here, friendly people and such. If your looking into doing a Phd here you'llprobablyhave to do a masters beforehand. Theyhave this program called ESRC (I can't remember just now what that stands for) which you do a one year masters and then 3 year Phd. They implemented this requirement becuase normal Phd students have no idea how to go about research, so the year of taught masters is to get you on track. It might seem liek ti takes longer but they say that it normally takes less time for someone to get a Phd through ESRC then to get one without the masters. Something to think about.

Thanks a bunch! That's definitely something to look into.

How long did it take to study for the GRE's?

I took a long weekend (three days) with a Princeton review GRE book and wound up scoring a 560 verbal, 670 math and a 5 on my written section, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I took a practice GRE offered by some GRE studying company at my college but got less then 1000 total. I"d take pre-GRE tests with a grain of salt, especially if offered by an organization that is trying to sell you on a GRE class.

The most useful thing for me was the CD which had a GRE like program on it that came with my Princeton Review book. I took a few of those to get nice and relaxed with the computer test taking.
