It's a legendary powerful ring that is hidden somewhere in the cold reaches. Basically whenever the ring is worn the entire planet of Faerun is plunged into an ice-age and the wearer becomes immune to cold and doesn't need to eat.

It's supposedly that one legendary item that every adventurer has heard about people going missing trying to find...
It's like... the holy grail of legendary items and everyone who tries to find it either gets killed, grows old looking for it, or simply gives up.

Those who can read it should not find it very offensive, because most who do read R.A Salvatore, and those who can't just think it's a bunch of gibberish.
