Allright, this is the latest fic I did ("latest" being used loosely, made this two months ago as of tomorrow ^^; ). I'm really proud of how it came out, even if it's a but mushy.

Original DA Description:

We know what happened to Wrath when he died in the movie, but not Hohenheim? Hmmm. Sad. My take on what could have happened.

The dialouge between Edward and Hohenheim may not be word-for-word from the movie, I did it from memory, and I'd rather not go to that scene again. D: Unless I'm watching the entire movie.

But anyway. I wrote this out all day - starting in first hour at school, and working on it a bit nearly each hour, until I finally finished it in sixth hour. So, yes, I'm trasnferring from paper to internet...yeah. This was a span of nine pages in my notebook...front and back, of course.

Title: The Alchemist's Passing
Genre: Drama, Romance
Chapters: 1 (One-Shot)
Pairing: Hohenheim x Trisha
Rating: PG-13 (I think it could get away with PG...but eh...)
Warnings: Some violence and mild Gate nudity. S'bout it.
Summary: *insert interesting summary here*

----------

The pain was more than any human being should ever feel.

The pain was worse than the pain of childbirth, the pain of losing a limb, and the pain of automail being connected to the nerves. As the teeth of the giant serpent burrowed into his back, making him a rather steadfast fixation in its mouth, his mind was not on the jaws clasping him. No, the pain from the serpent was not what troubled the multi-centennial old Hohenheim Elric, but the burden of guilt from his past. His first son had become like this, the serpent that was slowly crushing him - and it was his fault. He thought of himself as a failure as a father, lover, husband...the sin of this past was crushing him now, both figuratively and literally. As the alchemist hung limp from this transformed son's jaws, the only thing he could think about was his family, the family he left behind. Only his eldest son, meaning the eldest that he helped create in his current and final body, knew his motives for leaving, but his youngest son and wife didn't know. But it was too late now - his wife has passed on several years before, and he had no idea where his "baby" boy was. All was silent, save for the low growls of his serpentine son, until a young voice broke the silence.

"Dad?"

Hohenheim limply lifted his head to look ahead of him. The voice came from his son, Edward.

Ed's golden eyes looked on in shock and disbelief as his father proceeded to hoist himself up to get a good view of him.

"Oh...there you are." Hohenheim said, smiling somewhat warmly. Ed started one of his tangents, ending with "I'm getting you down from there!" "Son, no." Hohenheim interrupted. "I am a sinner. I performed a human transmutation on my dead son. Many people died becuase of me," he explained. "Besides, I can close the Gate with my death." "I don't NEED to close the Gate!" Ed screamed out, his voice echoing throughout the large room. Hohenheim just smiled. "Give Al my regards..." Hohenheim then grabbed Envy's upper jaw and forced him him to bite into his body; his blood seemed to rain from the heavens as Edward fell to the floor in shock and sadness.

Hohenheim found himself sprawled on the floor, light surrounding him. How he could see is a wonder, his glasses were gone, as were the rest of his clothes, but his eyesight was still a bit cluttered, for his long, dirty-blonde hair was uncerimoniously draped over his warm, brown eyes. He brushed his hair out of his eyes with his hand, and as he did, he noticed something else - his body was free of decay! He got up and examined himself just to make sure - and "his" body was perfectly normal. All seemed well, until Hohenheim looked ahead of himself and saw a gargantuan set of doors ahead of him. This was the Gate, where premature homunculai reside, and where the two universes connect. Now, this would typically scare anyone, but not Hohenheim. He knew the Gate all too well, and he knew what was coming next - the shadows would come to frisk him in, and he'd never be heard from again. The Gate flew open, and he closed his eyes and waited for the imminent event...and nothing happened. "What's this?" he thought. He slowly opened his eyes, and instead of a thousand "demons" peering out at him from the darkness, someone stood in the light. Furrowing his brow, he took a step forward. Who was this? He couldn't tell, their face was obscured by the blinding light. Was this the God that so many people spoke of? Was He here to judge him into a certain damnation, seeing as he committed mass genocide when creating the Philosopher's Stone? He took a step back, but then a voice called out to him. "What's this? You don't remember me? I'm offended!" the voice called out in a joking tone. The voice was young and efemminate, it had to belong to a woman in her twenties, perhaps early thirties. The woman took a step forward - her body eclipsing the light behind her. Her darling brown hair trailed down to the middle of her back, and her dark green eyes looked into the pair of eyes adjecent of hers in a curoius, yet loving manner, her lips curled into a smile. "Now do you know who I am?" she asked, still smiling. Hohenheim's eyes widened. Was this all a dream? Was this really who he thought it was? "Trisha...? No, it..." he stuttered. Trisha just smiled even more. "I was wondering when you'd figure that out."

Almost immediately, Hohenheim ran over and scooped his wife into his arms, pulling her into a tight embrace. His eyes were now filled with tears, the hot tears running down his face, and soaking parts of his well-kept beard. "I'm sorry" was all he could say. Trisha giggled a bit, pulled away far enoigh to see his face, but not pulling away from his embrace entirely. She playfully tilted her head and smiled again. "What are you so apologetic for? You sound like a broken record, Hohenheim," she asked. Hohenheim sniffed and caught his breath. "I...for leaving, and...making you worry yourself to death...quite literally..." he said, then looked down at his wife, who had her hands on his chest, and was rubbing it with her tumb. She looked back up at him. "I never stopped thinking about you, my darling. You are the love of my life, I knew I'd see you again someday, whether alive or dead..." she said. Hohenheim put a hand on the back of her head, running his heand through her hair. "Trisha...did you ever...hate me, at least just once while I was away?" he asked. "No. I could never hate you. You could stab me in the heart, and I'd still love you. But..."

"But?"

"I missed you so much...but there was one thing you have that I missed alot, too." Hohenheim raised an eyebrow. "And what would that be?" he asked. "Your kiss." she replied. "...I never thought you'd say it." he replied, with a smile. He then pulled his lover over, smiled, and their lips locked. After a minute, Trisha placed her hand on her husband's cheek, and looked into his eyes. "Hohenheim...I love you."

"I love you, too. And always will."

The creaking of the "Gate" could be heard as it closed on the two lovers, ensuring their love together for eternity.

Anyone who can make a great fanfic is an instant win in my book. Not to mention you even pulled off something as great as this splendidly. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for this pairing.

/It's just a phase/

Aww!

Very nice HohoTrisha fluff. It moved a little quickly, but then again I found it to be just the right length. And they were in character. Which was very nice.
whee
