Prologue

Hi, my name is Monkey… ok, its really Ben but I prefer being called Monkey. I am, or should I say was 5 foot 4, with dark brown hair, brown eyes, freckles, and I‘m 15 years old. I loved to play video games, mostly because in the game I was playing as a hero, a seeker of adventure! Real life was dull and boring to me. I lived with my family in a small house in a nice neighborhood. When I turned 15 my parents knew I wanted adventure, and that I was a responsible person, so they decided to let me travel on my own. To a place I had never been to before… Gaia!

Chapter 1: Welcome To Gaia

I looked in my room, and I knew I probably wouldn’t see it for a while. Everything I would need was in my backpack, extra cloths, food, my Nintendo DS, a few games, and some other belongings. I looked at myself in the mirror to make sure nothing was missing. I had a white shirt with a fish on it, black jeans, a green army jacket, and a pilot’s cap with WWII aviator goggles. I also had a pocket knife with me… just in case.

“I’m ready,” I told myself, and I walked outside, where my parents were waiting.

“Oh Ben, I’m going to miss you!” My mom shouted.

“Mom, I’ll miss you too, I’ll send letters to you and Dad when I get a chance.”

“Ok, sweetie.”

I could tell she was still worried so I gave her a hug. My dad was standing next to her, so I told him my good-byes as well.

“Good-bye Son,” he told me, “I hope you find what your looking for!”

“Thanks Dad,” I replied, turned around and walked off. Gaia wasn’t too far away, a couple miles actually. I looked up into the sky as I walked, there were several clouds… it may rain later.

It was about noon when I arrived at Gaia’s gate. A man by the gate wore a suit of armor and had a sword by his side, he didn’t look to friendly either. Gulp! He asked me several questions before I could enter.

“Age,” he asked.

“Fifteen”

“Passport.”

“Right here,” I showed him.

“Name or Alias?”

“… Monkey,” I replied with a smile on my face.

“Alright Monkey, welcome to Gaia, enjoy your stay,” He said and opened the gate.

I walked through and entered Gaia’s plaza, this place was HUGE! I looked around and found a map. They had a Market, Shops, a casino, fishing areas, and more! Then I found what I was looking for, the Housing Commission. I needed a place to live, and it wasn’t too far away.

It was 1:15 when I entered the building, I walked up to the front desk.

“Hi, I need to buy a house,” I said politely. The person at the desk looked at me like I was crazy.

“You, and hundreds more kid,” he replied.

“What?”

“Housing construction stopped a while ago, too many people, not enough supplies.”

“Oh, I see.”

“Your still welcome to stay in Gaia, we just can’t build any more houses.”

“Ok, thank you for your time,” I replied and left.

For several hours, I wandered Gaia. I spent a lot of my money for vending licenses and other necessities. I only had a few gold pieces left, nowhere near enough to buy anything good. My wandering led me to a beautiful field, clear and peaceful. I lie down in the grass and closed my eyes. I had had a rough day and needed rest.

“Well,” I said to myself, “This place isn’t so bad. I’m sure things will get better.”

Then it started to rain… A LOT! Sigh. And I stood up, and found a tree to sleep under.

“Yep,” I said sarcastically, “Things ’ill get better.”

Intriguing. I cannot wait to see more. biggrin

Chapter 2: The Market

Dear Mom and Dad
I have been in Gaia for a week now, and it’s… eventful here. Currently I am camping out in the woods, they say I should have a house ready for me soon. I have seen many people and I am having a great time here.

I put the letter in an envelope and dropped it in the mailbox Sigh , I just wish more of that letter was true. The only true thing there is that I’ve been here for a week now. I’ve been wandering through the different area’s of Gaia, looking for money. I currently have 150 gold. That house wouldn’t be here anytime soon.

It was about 7:30 a.m. when I decided to look around the market. I heard rumors of nice trinkets, and nick knacks for cheap, so I decided to drop by. To my surprise cheap meant 20,000 gold! Anything nice was just that expensive, but I didn’t want to give up, so I continued to look around. People sold their items in nice tents. They had all sorts of items, swords, cloths, furniture, pets! I was about to leave the market, when one tent caught my eye. It was small and tattered, but it intrigued my interest. I entered the tent to see a cloaked figure, with a hood covering his face. He sat behind a table, looking into a crystal ball.

“Hello,” he said, not even looking up, “Not many people ever notice my little shop here.”

“Sorry to bother you I ju…”

“No, it’s all right lad.”

“Um, what exactly are you selling here?”

The man looked up at me and said, “The question isn’t what I’m selling, but what are you looking for?”

“Well, I’m not really sure, just browsing.”

“Sit down please,” he said and I obeyed, “To tell you the truth, my services are more towards fortunes than selling items. If you would like I can read your fortune, maybe even help you find what your looking for.”

“Ok,” I said skeptically, “lets try it.”

The man closed his eyes and took several strange looking cards out. He shuffled them, and spread four of them on the table, then opened his eyes again.

“Strange,” he said, “Well the cards don’t lie, it says you’re a seeker of adventure, a person who thinks of others above himself, and a good friend. But, there is something missing in your life, your not sure what and even the cards don’t know, but what they do know is that, the thing missing is here in Gaia.”

I was socked after hearing this, those cards were absolutely right, but they didn’t help me at all. I mean, how can I search for something, if I don’t know what it is? I thanked the man and was about to get up and leave but he told me to wait a second.

“My friend, before you leave, I have something for sale that may interest you.”

“Really? The problem is I don’t have much money,” I replied showing him the little amount of gold I had left.

He looked at my money and smiled, and told me that would be enough. He took out a case and opened it, taking out a Japanese sword and a necklace. The necklace was black with a white skull on it. The sword was a bright silver with a black handle, it also had engravings on it, but I couldn’t read them.

He said, “This necklace has magical properties, in which it can help you find your greatest desires, the problem is that it often is a magnet for danger. This katana is light and yet very sturdy, and finely crafted, whatever trouble that necklace gets you into, this katana can help you get out. Do you think you would like these items?”

“Yes,” I replied after a bit of thinking.

“Very well, do not put on this necklace until tomorrow, then your destiny will be revealed.”

“Thank you,” I said, bowed, took my items and left.

“Good luck, young adventurer,” He replied.

Once again I camped out under the stars, minus the tent, and campfire. I went to bed early so I’d be up early.

The next morning, I awoke and looked at the necklace. It looked normal, nothing really magical about it. I picked it up and put it on… nothing happened. “A lousy trick, to take my money,” I thought. I packed my backpack and got ready to travel again. I picked up the sword and attached it to my belt. I was about to leave the camp, when the necklace started to glow a bright blue color in the eyes of the skull. “What the?” was all I could say, before the necklace began to tighten, I started to choke. I tried to take it off, with every ounce of strength I had, but to no effect. The world around me started to spin, and I had no idea what was going on! I blacked out.

Now i feel bad sad I never had time to continue writing this, i'll get started on the next chapter asap
