Sadly I have yet to read any Forgotten Realms books. Mostly because I've been reading DragonLance and Ebberron books but partly because I have no idea what book to start with, there are to many. So, if anyone has any suggestions on to what book would be a good place to start, I'd be thankful.

it depends the two most populer charicters in Forgotten Realms are usually Drizzt or Elminster if you want to read about Drizzt start with the 'Dark Elf Trilogy' (starting with Homeland) which is pretty much about his life up till the point of the 'Icewind Dale Trilogy' (starting with The Crystal Shard) which is tecniclly the first trilogy with Elminster you shoud start with Elminster - The Making of a Mage
it's probually more up to your tastes, Drizzt is a fighter so there's action/adventure and plenty of fight senes, where Elminster is a wizard, I haven't acualy gotten to his books yet

It probably would be best starting with the Dark Elf Trilogy. I myself started with the Cleric Quintet so you could that a try after.

I would recommend starting with an anthology. It will halp you get a feel for the setting and it may help you find characters and authors that you like.

I've got all of R.A. Salvatore's book except cleric quintet. I'm not sure if I will bother reading that. I plan on start the other FR book soon after I buy my video card
