Due to Ess' major guilt pointing trip, I suppose I'll have to rant talk about FFT (My fav FF of course)

While I'll be opening up the conversation with an excerpt (or a few) from FFT, feel free to comment, tangent to other RPGs, and examine any (OMG WHY AM I SAYING THIS) rhetorical devices that the FF makers use to accomplish their goal in purveying the truth behind maniupulation.

Happy Talking ^^ (And to encourage this discussion) I'll give "special" prizes to the ones who are particually inciteful in their criticism/commentary on the situations!

The Heavenly Knight Balbane told to Ramza before he died

Quote:
Never shame your name... never tolerate injustice

And later in the story Rafa told him the same thing

Quote:
Ramza: I'm not fighting for thanks. I'm fighting for honor and
pride as a Beoulve.

Rafa: That's a lie....You aren't that noble. You can't ignore
injustice or evil in front of you.

While yes, Rafa's and Balane's quotes are lovely quotations that we should be applying and integrating into our lives, there is that idea of what the FF storyline makers are trying to say.

Perhaps the makers wanted to satirize some parts society, and the true "injustices" that plagued the world that we all live in. Or perhaps it was a stroke of genius that arose among the writers and makers. But either way, the makers are in fact saying something to us as players, and whether or not we conciouslly feel it, we are influenced by it as we play it (assuming that the people who actually "play" it, actually pay attention to the plot).

From the words of Miluda, to the Backstabbing Dycendarg, players are intended to feel the pity of the commoners and the hatred towards the maniupulators. We as players can feel the injustices going on in the world are made to become better people in realizing what people who are "lower" than us have to go through.

But anyways, enough random ranting about these things! Tell us all about what you believe =P... (lolz)

Talking about beliefs... This is kind of a touchy/personal subject to me, heh razz
But ok let's talk a bit.
You know, this topic actually reminds me of something Delita says when talking to Ovelia after she finds out she is not the real Ovelia (I forget in what part of the game is this, sorry). He says something like "they say work hard and you will be rewarded. But that's a lie!"
Back when I played the game it got me wondering a lot about our world. Back then I didn't agree with Delita, but nowadays I feel the same way. And like him, I'm working hard to change the way things work around me. I remember a friend once said "You are too power hungry, all you care about is making money, there are so many other important things around us that money just can't buy. I would much rather live a simple life and be able to look at a child's smile everyday after feeding her than have all this power you want so much." and my answer to that was "I would much rather have all money and power one can have, just so I can feed a whole community and give people opportunities they otherwise wouldn't have."
I think the developers had a similar idea about Delita's character when they made him the way he is. Like me, he accepted to play by the rules of his world instead of trying to change them like some silly dreamer, but stayed truthful to his ideal and goals.
