LEWIS HAMILTON! I never thought he could be on McLaren, but I'm no longer a McLaren fan (but kinda am..lol) so I'm moved on to Ferrari! I'll be back from winter testing until March!

I personally, doubt that he'll be completly ready for the first race in about five months.
Don't forget that fellow rooikie, Hekki has done a year of testing so has a better understanding of the car he'll be driving. Hekki also managed to get lots of information out of Fernando before he left Renault because their trust and respect for each other is so great.
There's also the fact that Lewis' team-mate is Fernando, current world champion and all that jazz. Hekki has got Fisco, considired one of the fastest drivers untill he was teamed up with Alonso. So Lewis has added pressure there also.
Don't get me wrong, I think Lewis is a good driver, he's just been thrown in to the deep ever so slightly.
Some of Lewis fans, on the other hand, have seriously annoyed me already...

Prof Fido I think it is unfair to judge Lewis until he starts racing. Maturity does mean a thing in motorsport, he has the ability so he got the drive. I don't want to judge Lewis but compared to Hekki (and Robert if you wish to include him as a rooike) he's at a serious disadvantage.
Also the last time McLaren took on a rooike it was Micheal Andretti (who was hyped up as, not only was his father Mario one of the greatest all rounders ever but also because Micheal himself was a an American single seater champion.) who was teamed with Aryton Senna. The car that year was rubbish but because Senna had more experience than Andretti with F1 cars he was able to handle the problem better.
Andretti with very little experience (especially when you include the fact that Ron was giving more testing time to Mika (then test driver) than his rooike) wasn't able to cope so well. However the critic ripped him appart because his team mate was still getting onto the podium. Eventually Andretti gave up and went back to American racing before the season was over.
The comparison between Senna and Andretti was unfair if you think about it but it still happened. Look at the hype Hamilton has recived already. He's already the next British champion and all that jazz according to the media. What if the car is rubbish? What if Alonso gets its on the podium but Hamiltion fails to get into the points? Will the media still back him up?
It's Hamiltion future that's on the line here. If he can't cut it then McLaren will simply switch to De La Rosa and make Hamilton test driver. The only reason Rosberg has got away with a bad season is because Williams is currently one of the middle teams. McLaren on the other hand isn't.Prof Fido you arent racist are you? Can I say that several people that have been hyping Hamiltion up on other forms throw that one at you when you try and tell them what I have pointed out. They don't point out facts about his GP2 season that would make you think: 'You know what...you are right!' They just declare you racists. How is that going to encourage people to support him? It also reflects badly on other Hamilton fans.

I am not as big an expert on the the Andretti family as you are. However, F1 has developed a fair bit since the time of the Andrettis in F1.
Lewis has done brilliantly in his debut GP2 season in the ART car which outperformed his teammate despite Premat being touted as the main man. Also, Ron Dennis is not kind of person you expect to live on the edge and take risks. Hamilton must have done good in testing to earn the seat. All that said, i think Mclaren are going to have a terrible season for both drivers.
If the British press are already hyping up Hamilton as the next world champion then that is just sickeningly typical of them, perhaps Button in the ever improving Honda is now on the preverbial dung pile. My expectations for Lewis is to simply be competitive, not blow the field away (be great if he did though). I still have my Button hat on for now, although maybe James Allen has a lot more than just Jensens hat on, if Button does well, i might have to go the whole season on mute.
As for the racism comment you made, i dont understand it at all. Maybe you are above my intellectual level or something but if you are accusing me of being racist then i wasnt meant to be and my comment was light hearted, guess it isnt a subject which could ever been seen in that light though. For the record i think i will delete that comment.

I know that times has changed since Michael Andretti was in F1 (I'm now waiting on Marco to come over! blaugh ) but history has a funny thing of repeating itself. And I don't wish that to happen to Hamiltion.
I'm wasn't declaring you a racist (and you didn't need to delet the comment!) nor am I one (I've grown up with friends of differnt ethnic background). I was mearly pointing out that many Hamilton fans are jumping straight to that if you say something against him.
Actually your second (and third) paragraph is the sort of thing I'm after when someone defends the rooikes right to be in this sport. You have given me reasons that I'd expect a fan to say. It a shame that those that I have come across never actually say that.
I'm sorry about the confusion.

well Marco has done pretty good in Indy so far. he was so close to grabbing the Indy500 but Hornish pipped him at the line. Although Wheldon deserved to win anyway.
and dont worry about the confusion. it is good to have a good debate about F1, even if both the participants have no idea what the other is saying gonk rofl

All I can say about the Indy 500 is: The Andretti Curse Strikes Again! But I think the Andretti talent skips a generation or something. Marco is more like Mario than Michael in every way. Even the way he has a hissy fit xd Prof Fido and dont worry about the confusion. it is good to have a good debate about F1, even if both the participants have no idea what the other is saying gonk rofl Debates are fun. I've even been going on to yahoo!answers and answering questions (F1 only (well a few NASCAR questions that have asked: 'Why do people hate NASCAR, it's so American!')) there.

At Watkin Glen, Marco was setting fastest laps and looked a potenial winner until Eddie Cheever Jr (who at the time was being lapped by Marco) rammed him off the track and into the barrier. His reaction when getting out of the car was so...so...so Mario. Pulling gloves off violently and glaring at everything.
You would need a yahoo account to answer or ask questions but it's fun ^^

I saw the replay showing of watkins glen, i straight away took me back to when Montoya was strolling the Brazilian GP a few years ago which would have been his first win and then as he lapped Verstappen, Jos decided to drive over Montoyas arse.
