I don't know why language and communication in general has degenerated to this sorry state of affairs, but it's hardly something that applies solely to Gaia. People have been using chatspeak and '1337speak' on the internet for at least as long as I've been using the 'net, which started in about 1994, possible '93. I thought it was terrific that I could see boobs so easily, because I was eleven or twelve years old.

On the internet, people don't feel as restricted as they are in the real world.
If you wanted to write a check to someone, you wouldn't sign your name in 'leet speak'..
