Halloween is over, but in remembrance of that most joyous pagan holiday, who wins - vampires or werewolves?

Vampires always spooked me more because of the emphasis on their eternal nature.

werewolves cause they have the strength and the power to jump like a crazy person. vampires are too close to human in form so they lack the scary factor.

Hmm, this is a toughie... I guess I have a thing for vampires otherwise I would not like Castlevania at all. You hardly see werewolves as major bosses in that game. I wonder why...
I guess Chipp likes her werewolves a lot more, huh Chipp? wink
Seriously though, even though the movie "Van Helsing" portrayed a Dracula who could only be beaten by a werewolf, I think a vampire has more chances of winning cuz I think they have better regeneration than the werewolves.

Those are all good points. I do think that vampires are harder to kill than warewolves. All the same, I'm glad that I've never personally encountered either.

I would have to say that vampires have the down side to immortality. Werewolves are just effected by silver, not killed by it. It should be the same way with blessed weapons, but the vampire community also has to contend with sunlight, preists, wooden stakes, and garlic. Then again, a vampire wearing a radiation suit with a breast plate would be almost immortal. In the movie Underworld I think they drew the short straw.

I have always heard that silver bullets do kill warewolves. In D&D, silver does not itself cause damage but does allow you to overcome their damage resistance. Perhaps that is what you meant. Despite this advantage, I think Hypnocrown was right that Lycanthropes lack the regenerative abilities of Vampires.

In Van Helsing both had regeneration. That was why it was a battle of the immortals in the last moments. Silver bullets kill werewolves like lead kills humans as I have seen it. I still chose vampires because of their innate ability to return for sequels, but to argue the regen ability there is Underworld, Terry Prachet, and most myths about werewolves (hence the need for silver, otherwise they regenerate.) The comparison can be made with blessings is to vampires as silver is to werewolves. And unlike werewolves, vampires have more weaknesses in addition to this, but also can be balanced out by the fact that the lycanthropes sometimes cannot control their ability.

Not wanting to be immortal so you don't have to float in space... I never thought of that. It is a good point. On the other hand, if you are lucky, after floating in space long enough you may just happen to drift upon another world, and with a little more luck, conquer it. Oh megalomania.

How about a vampiric werewolf? Wouldn't that be something to encounter!? Would he kill and then drink the blood or drink the blood and then kill - and if he was a vampire and drank the blood could he still kill the victim....

that still makes you immortal.

whats the point in conquering some thing with no people?
and if you are with other vamps theyre not gonna let you have anything to yourself.

I have heard that too... And as for the Van Helsing movie, I think it had some stuff that doesn't match things I've heard or even read about. I felt there were some inconsistencies in that movie. You know? Like before this movie, I had never seen a werewolf in any concept having the ability to regenerate or anything. Oh well... rolleyes

i would have to go with werewolves just cause i have always adored them. i mean, i like vampires too, but my character or personality is more wolfish than vampiric. plus, i am a bit too religious to side with a quote on quote "demonic" thing. i know that in some cases vampires are not demonic, but just the thought of a cross hurting me is kind of scary. i vote werewolves becuase they are also fuzzy ninja . i do like the way Van Helsing made their werewolves, very cool! by the way, none of that previously was meant to offend vampire fans, trust me! i do envy the ability of vampires flying though... xp

Since crosses hurt Vampires, do other religious symbols like a Star of David. or the Islam Crescent work too. I think they should.
