well i havent been on gaia all that much lately as most of the guild regulars probably have noticed these past few months, but ive got a bit of extra time to myself tonite so i figured id hit the guild up with this...

SO WTF IS UP WITH ANTI INFLATIONISTS?!?!?!

every few weeks a get a pm that a friend has sent to their entire friendlist saying "i really want this item and im asking everyone for 100g, just 100g each so that i can be closer to getting my most wanted item, im really sick of these items going up so much in value and im thinking of quitting gaia plz donate or else im going on strike from gaia" something along those lines, im sure we've all seen these.

so i figured id start mailing them back asking them what they think their going to accomplish by begging for gold basically and going on strike from gaia.

so apparently, "its not fair to users who wernt around at the beginning cause the items used to be cheaper then and they just keep going up and up in value and everytime i have to start questing for a higher amount of gold to be able to afford said item and that if enough people complain that hopefully gaia will freeze the maximum price of said item so that they will actually be able to get it one day"

alrite 2 things wrong here

when has anything old in this world gone down in value? (these people claim they cant get enough gold cause they have lives and arnt addicted to gaia) well if you have a real life go to an antique store, see how much a 10 cent toy 70 years ago is now worth anywhere from 100-10000$ should the government go to that antique store now and say okay you cant sell that for any more than 50 cents because otherwise its not fair to people who cant afford it who really want it? no, its ******** stupid, you cant regulate crap like that, its not fair to the owner. 2nd problem is, okay say gaia does freeze the amount the donation items are at, well lets see what happens now, after 1 week people close to finishing their quest for say....an omg will buy up all the omg's that were for sale that week, now i have no clue how many omg's there are but lets say theres about 10000 just for the exacmple, so say thats 1000 that have transferred ownership in that week. k so now within the next month alot more people get enough gold to be able to buy it, another 2000-3000 omg's are sold, so now nearly half of the omg's have changed hands recently, the users who got theirs are happy, and are probably going to keep it for a while, so now what? next month a bunch more people reach the end of their quest, theyve got enough gold, but no one wants to sell their omg....oh dear what now? now an item that had a price on it can no longer have a price, no one wants to sell it, even though they can get the frozen price for it, they dont care since now that the item is in such high demand who would want to get rid of it? (take for example angellic halos even with the open marketplace, no one sells, because its worth more to have it than it is worth in its gold value), and there lies your problem, now the item that was nearly impossible to get is now impossible to ever get a chance ever again to get.

THAT is why it cannot be done like it is being suggested. YES infaltion sucks, but its part of real life, and gaia life, thats just the way it works with a growing population. OH and to ANYONE who says "its impossible to get good donation items because i actually have a life" ******** OFF! if you care so much about the item that your questing it and are so upset about it that you have to become a "anti-inflationist" then you really have to back up and rethink what you just said, because you are in the wrong bigtime!

sorry if that turned out to be a rant, or offended any users, but im sick of it, chill out and work for your quest.

Well said.
People who say they do not have time to read, are not readers. (metaphor)

I also would like to add that gold was also harder to get in gaias early days. when i joined shortly after i was affected by the so called "gold glitch" yes thats right, i made 1-3 gold per post/refresh. gold is MUCH easier to come by now on gaia, which is another reason prices are going up so high, people are making their gold much faster. so i can make gold around 10 times faster than i used to be able to, and if i was determinned i could make around 3k in a week back then, i havent tried lately but im sure i could make between 10-20k or more in a week now with the new gold system, not to mention the games (very very easy way to make gold) so ya part of item inflation is amount of gold you make going up too.
