Welcome to the official FFIX thread, dicuss everything from the wicked cutscenes and graphics, the amusing characters you meet throughout the game, the mini games such as skipping ropes, hippo run, chocobo treasure hunting, delivering mogs letters, the coins, getting the weapons, card game and much much more.... to keep you content to the early hours of the morning!
Most final fantasy fans really do love this game, they think it is one of the best.
Personally i wasn't too keen on this game for some reason the graphics really did blow me away when i got it, the characters were compelling but they didn't have the same spark, the same magic that they had in 7 and 8. The mini games were fun and i really did enjoy doing them all because i was that sad but my favourite was the chocobo treasure hunting that one was brilliant as it allowed you to venture more into the game. The delivering of the letters did my head in eventually it seemed like a chore to me. the weapons were a pain to get hold of also. But other than that the game did have a good time limit and it was playable again.
so discuss

out of all the FF's i've played i've found this the hardest one to play. Sure the Graphics are good but compared to the 2 previous games i felt cheated out of Supurb graphics which we begin to expect from FF games. And the story line also didn't grab me as mush as other FF's. Not having played FF 1-6 just 7 -10/2 i feel that this is the worst i've personaly played but one of the best things about this game is the way that you learn skills through wearing clothes rather than as indepenent skills. It's like being able to edit your character to an extent. But that still doesn't redeam the game much in my eyes

Yeah i completely agree with you the FMVs were indeed something to enjoy but they weren't the same quality as final fantasy 8 and concidering it was the next game in the line you would have exspected the graphics to be ten times better. Plus the storyline was well weird i didn't even understand why necron was the last boss there was nothing telling us about him, he just popped up completely out of the blue.

Necron is the core of the Iifa Tree. Apparently its rumored the idea of Necron is a cross between Zeromus and Neo X-Death.

Ah but they didn't even bring him into the game throughout it, they should have at least added him somewhere throughout the game. All the storyline pointed to Kuja being the main villian throughout the game and then all of a sudden necron is brought out from the shadows i understand why he was there from what he was saying throughout the game but they should have brought him into the storyline.
Also the lifa tree was just another boss which got completely distroyed because you throw a Elixer at it because garnet turn's around and tells you she can feel life from within the tree. The lifa tree then dies and is completely purged so i dont see how necron can be the core of it when it was destroyed.

The entire point of the Kuja fight was for Zidane to prove that he's the almighty Genome and to settle the score with Kuja. Then he had to go to the core of the Iifa Tree which is where Necron was. What you're thinking of is BEHIND the Iifa Tree. All you basically did was purge the Iifa Tree of it's evil remnants on the exterior, where deep down inside Necron still existed as a "soul exchanger" basically. Here's a question for you, if the Iifa Tree died in that battle then why is it in Chapter 4, the roots grow even larger and in the ending the Iifa Tree begins to go crazy AFTER you've defeated Necron?

They always have the big Boss at least semi visable throughout the whole game. I've yet to compleate it but i nearly did a couple of years ago. but in my crazy to play all my FF's at the same time sort of i'm still trying to compleate them all hopfully in order and all before FFXII comes out.

Lol. Trust me on this, Necron is the core to the Iifa Tree. At the time you were fighting Necron, he was going to use the Lifestream within the Iifa Tree and try to wipe out existance, if I'm not mistaken. That's the part where he takes after Neo X-Death. Oh and btw, Zidane knew at the time that Kuja was no longer a thread, basically Garland basically TOLD Zidane that Kuja was a wuss.

Maybe but that was the worst choice they could have done of a boss, they should have brought him more into the storyline.

The main problem with FFIX is that they failed to go into real detail about the Iifa Tree, Garland, Black Mages, the Life Cycle, Terra and everything. There's so much in the plot of FFIX, it would have been a real pain to cover it all...
IMO, the plot involving FFIX is MUCH better then that of FFVII.

In your oppinion maybe. They had enough storyline the boss shouldnt have been in there, they just threw it in for fun and to fill space.

I disagree that the FFIX plot was better than the FFVII plot. the FFVII plot makes sence for a start. but there is just too much in FFIX that you lose where you are going. i don't think i got as far as Necron i remember somthing about going into a void to fight Garland but that was as far as i got.

Yeah the storyline at the start was really well done it all made sense and pulled us in but as the game progressed and when you got on the fourth disk everything got lost, the whole storyline kept changing and you got really confused i remember playing the last boss is utter disbelief i thought i had missed vital parts in the storyline as i didnt know who the hell necron was but when i played it again i realised that he never was even mentioned.
