*Jad walked in and sat at Sim Station C... he lazily activated the controls, and set it to private sim, something he could do because of his position. he settled into the cockpit as it dimmed, and started to hum*
*what had been dark panels where the cockpit windows had been, there
were now graphic projections, showing an open expanse of space, stars in
thebackground, and a asteroid field in the distance... the nearest star cast anorange glowon everything, and his sensors lit up and activated. the designated a patrol of five enemy serators, the crafthe'd chosen, patrolling the asteroid field*
*jad steered his fast nimble craft towards the asteroid field, but not directly at the patrol... as he neared the field, the chunks of rock and otherthings grew in size, first slowly then faster as he approached... he slipped into the outeredge of it, as to hide from the patrol as he bore down on them*
*his fighter drew within firing range of the recon squad, and jad carefully sighted the center fighter.... when he pulled the trigger on hisflight stick, the two effector cannon set on either side of the cockpit fired, a slight crack heard in his cockpit, not really noticeable, and two packets of energy
were fired, shaped likebolts... the first impacted on the fighter at just the right spot, andthe shields popped in a small flash. the other burned straight into the fighter, and then detonated in the fuel tank, blowing the craft apart like a firecracker...*
*jad's fighter shook as pieces of the once piloted craft peltedagainst his shields sparking where they hit. the four remaining fighters looped around and spotted him easily, and began an attack run, all four bearing down on
him... Jad smiled, and flipped thefighter in a sudden and near impossible flip, and as he straightened out, he hitthe accelerator at maximum, and began toweave in andout of the asteroid field, dodging peices of rock... the pursuers couldn't keep up..*
*as soon as jad was out of range of his pursuers, he pulled another flip around a large chunk of rock, not bothering to reduce speed. the sim machine groaned and strained with the effort to simulate jad's motions as itmovedin tandem to his instructions...he picked off one of his pursuers in a head to head, though he'd nearly collided with the wreckage.*
*as jad manuevered, dodging quickly in small random motions, careful not to hitany rock, and still at full speed, his sensors screamed... the computer had equiped the opponents with small antifighter torpedoes... and there were two bearing down on a 5 oclock 4oclock position (behindon theright from below)... jad did aquick twist and a dive, but the torps were designed to keep up... he twisted again, and his sensors screamed a cannon lock.. one of the computer pilots hadgotten gutsy and had matched his velocity...*
*jad got tense and quickly cut throttle, slowing him instantly due to the inertial conveyors on his craft. the enemy fighter over shot him, though one effector glanced his shield, and a loud hiss filled the cockpit, and even a little simulated smoke... his shield indicator showed 23% strength left... not good... but as he was overshot, jad had used the manuevering inertial conveyors to point the nose of his craft up and fired two effectors, which both collided with thefighter, coring it in two places, two ugly melted holes... the engines died, and the fighter slowed lazily, no longer under power as the cockpit of it went dark... the missiles, having temperarily lost lock, locked onto the enemy fighter before it's engines had died and both slammed into the unprotected crippled craft, in a massive flash*
*jad put his throttle back to full from stop and he was jolted back as the fighter surged forward, again the system groaning to the strain. thismove caught the attention of one of the two surviving opponents, and jad quickly manuevered away, dodging a pair of effectors. hehad a stern, strange look on hisface... a scary one to most, as he manuevered, concetrating... the opponent failed to keep up with jad's twists and turned and crashed into an asteroid, popping against the surface, where the wreckage became entangled with rock*
*the final fighter, finally realizing that he was severely outgunned, turned and ran, leaving the field, and headed for a stardrive point...Jad pursued, still not decelerating, and caught up quickly... the opponentjinked and twisted and dived and flipped, and jad, using a masterstouch on the throttle, managed to keepupas if he was flying information with the enemy, and then neatly put two rounds into it, shattering the fighterframe and blowing it apart.. the screens went blank, and the words MISSION SUCCESS appeared... the sim opened slowly, hissing from the coolant and jad climbed out slowly*
