Personally I am not fond of how bad most tv shows are these days, but there a few I still like, so why don't you say what you want about the ones you like, and I guess even the ones you dislike.

If I stop to really think about it I would have to swear under oath that watching tv today is for the most part a mind rotting, IQ draining, endorphin driven, act of desperation for a lack of something better to do.

On the other hand my endorphins tell me that tv is good and I will watch the Gilmore Girls because nothing I do will stop me ever!

Muahahahahah!!! I'm not sane, any of the people here who know me will tell you that. Even if sometimes I seem almost normal its a living lie.

I'm glad I haven't said this aloud. *smiles*

TV in general is not very enlightening, most of the time it is watching the same plot lines done with different charactors in a slightly different context than they origionally were...
I miss the TV of my childhood where one could watch for 2 hours straight and there still being a good show on, or at least one you enjoyed. Where as today's TV, one can go an entire day without having anything good on TV, because of reruns or sitcoms/teen dramas, at least in the US.

"Join me..."
Gah, the voices are starting again, must get more sleep...
"Sleep you need not! Train you must."
AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! *Thud*
"Dead is he?"
"No, he has fallen into a state of unconsciousness to thwart my plans of evil."

My thoughts on the matter exactly. I used to actually enjoy watching tv, but now I'll flip through channel after channel of garbage.

To paraphrase a line from a comic strip-

"999 channels and still nothing to watch..."

Most TV is sludge now, even the cartoons, every once and a while there is something good, well to me good. Like (6 Feet Under) and for US cartoons (Avatar the last Airbender.) Some say 6 feet under is pretentious, it may be in some ways but it's a hell of a lot better than most series & sitcoms. I actually cared about the characters and was sad that show came to an end.

Avatar The Last Airbender is a good cartoon, it reminds me of the way cartoons used to be. It's not Anime but for a US cartoon it's the best I've seen in years.

I'm so sick of the crap they are playing right now, I'm almost agree with my sister for not letting her kids watch TV.

The only difference is if I had kids I would let them watch a few select shows.
I'd probably just subject them to old 80's cartoons and Anime.

Yes, Avatar is good for a US cartoon, but once one is hooked on anime, one must get their daily fix of it or they don't feel as good, or that is how it is with me...

I watch too much TV or I used to watch way too much TV.

I suppose that I liked all this stuff that I watched as a kid so much its hard for me to feel like it can be topped today.

I'm not even going to list the cartoons I used to watch my fingers might start bleeding.

I liked Night Court, Knight Rider, Parker Lewis can't Lose, Quantum Leap, Battle Star Galactica, Cheers, Wings, Diff'rent Strokes, Doogie Howser MD, The Golden Girls, Saved by the Bell, The Cosby Show, Family Matters, Star Trek the Next Generation, Buff the Vampire Slayer, and thank goodness I can't remember all of them.

Looking at the list I'm not sure I even like everything that is there but I did like it all enough to watch it all even the reruns.

Right now I'm watching Star Gate SG1, Gilmore Girls, Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother, Dancing with the Stars Australia, Australian Idol, Scrubs, House MD and another long list of cartoons.

I'm trying to be impartial I don't like all of what I watch but I watched it so there it is. Also I've watched a few other shows but I must not even really pay attention to them because I can't even remember the names.

I think I'm getting back to watching a lot of TV but still it doesn't feel like it fills the void. *smirks*

I'll never get to see enough Anime Ever! wahmbulance

What makes a really great show for me is where not only do I like the show and crave to watch it for whatever reasons those are and they differ but in the end I really desire some kind of resolution something that gives closure to things. Some plots I understand thrive from the mystery of it all and the secret unknown whatsits but at least define them in the end. I was so bugged when in Pod People the showed how things weren't resolved for the hero's because the pods were being shipped out everywhere and that's not exactly what I'm talking about because that has direction, but I hate it when say a show is canceled and you still want to know if that certain romance will happen or not happen or somehow have great technology or mystery be explained . Gosh I'm finding this to difficult to explain so I'm giving up for now, maybe I won't ever try again or maybe we never really understood my identity because I have something but its not amnesia cause that would be defining it. *snickers*

Stargate SG-1, I have seen all the episodes up to now, where they are showing reruns until the next season begins. The new Doctor Who is as good if not better than the old ones.

Sadness occurs and occular fluid begins to emit from my eyes when a show that was "most exellent" gets canceled or cut...

Ooh I saw the first episode of the New Dr Who Definetely up to snuff It doesn't need to be compared to the old Dr Who series, not really and that's because it does it justice. I wish I could see more!

You are right in this, the old Doctor Who made the show with, 'tis sad to say, what a high school theater department could dig up, but it was good, not like TV today where if we took the special effects out the show would die a horrible gruesome death, with writhing included!

Avatar The Last Airbender... not anime?! But, it's too good to be some anime-influenced US cartoon! How did this happen?! burning_eyes

I don't know how this happened but the cultural center of the world is shifting again, this time from the United States, to Japan...

I only turn on my TV to play video games, or watch movies. There is a tv show with a name so long I dare not print it here, for fear of filling up all of the space available in Gaia. There are a few shows however I do watch, or have watch somewhat recently that were pretty good, however most of the best are no longer in syndication. I really liked the Buffy and Angel series, even if they were a little corny at times. Currently the only live actions shows I watch are Smallville and House, and I don't watch either of them with commercials or on tv, just download them and watch the pure strain. Family Guy is also great, and always will be. Go watch it now.
