I liked the main theme in FFVIII (Eyes on Me), and Liberi Fatali.
But all around, I think I liked VII's the best. I wasn't a fan of all the music in VIII, like the world map music? Blah... VII's was just perfect.... all the time...

It really is a tough call. But I don't really think it boils down to best FF just what great songs each one has.
FFVI the world map song is still my favorite of any song played on a world map. And who can forget the opera scene? Good stuff.
FFVII One Winged Angel is just awesome! I must have like 3-4 different remix's of that song. I also like Jenova's fight music and Aerith's theme. And the general boss fight music is arguably the best in any FF game
FFVIII If FFVI had the best world map music, FFVIII gets best regular fight music with Man with a Machine Gun. And Edea's theme is just awesome. Arguably my favorite FF Song next to One Winged Angel, Fithos, Lusec, Wecos, Venosec
FFIX only two songs stand out as good songs in this one. Your not alone, and Melodies of life. Both are very good.
FFX I really didn't care much for the music in this one. Good yes but no one song stood out as W0W! This song is one of the best FF songs ever. Maybe the Prayers song when Yuna was doing the dance on the water. But that was just an awesome Cut scene in general.
FFXI I really can't say the music was spectacular here either. Though the burning circle monster fights are always nice. I remember when I helped my friend do the mission 2-3 Dragon fight, I told him to turn off all of the lights in his room and turn up the volume as loud as he could. Loud evil music, dark room, evil lookin dragon. He was litterally scared out of his wits.

I love the music in X. The music fit perfectly in with each scene of the game. I especially loved the piano tunes in songs such as To Zanarkand and Decisive Battle. The other songs I have to point out from that game are Seymour Battle, Song of Prayer, Auron's Theme, and Isn't it Wonderful (Although I wish Rikki's voice wasn't so darn high pitched...).
I also love the music from Crystal Chronicles. It gave the game a different feel from other games of it's kind. That game was an unusual experiance all together. Plus, Sigh of the wind is the best song EVER.
And while I'm here, I have to say that I am not that fond of One Winged Angel. The singing itself is nice, but the overall tone of the song bugs me. I know the lyrics, but only so that I could bother my friend with them. ninja
Maybe it is because I don't like Sephiroth.
