I'd really like to start an herb garden next year. I just don't know where to get started. Any advice on herbs to start out with, and other advice is really appreciated. I'd like to plan it now so when the time comes I'll be ready.

Hm. Well, I know plant mint and lemon balm in seperate containers, not in the flower bed or sharing pots with anything.

Plant rosemary on the outskirts of the Garden to keep the deer from eating everything else! Also, pick herbs that you know you'll love. I use spearmint and Chamomile alot so i planted lots of them! If you are concerned about the layout, draw a design in your sketchbook! Have potted plants and plants that are directly into the earth. Gardens are fun. Be creative! When you plant your plants, read up on them to see which love sun and which love shade! *EDIT* Be careful when planting the spearmint and Chamomile..spearmint shoot up everywhere and sometimes will take over the garden! It makes it smell nice but the smaller plants may not get enough sun!
