The title is sorta explanatory.

Right now, I'm looking for a low-overhead media player (either free or retail) to replace Windows Media Player, that isn't any of the following:

-Winamp
-QuickTime
-MusicMatch
-RealPlayer

etc. etc... I'm really just looking for something that plays a very large variety of file types, both audio and video. And by low-overhead, I mean something that just kinda springs up without a splash screen... Not like Power DVD or something that takes a few seconds to load... I want something a bit quicker. Am I asking for too much? Am I being too vague? Only the replies will tell...

Also, I'm looking to get a TFT monitor. The one I had in mind comes from Dell, found here: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?TabPage=techspecs&sku=320-1578&c=us&l=en&cs=19

For that size, the warranty, the pixel pitch, the contrast ratio, the moderate luminousity and the price, I can't find one that's better. I tried to find an 18 or 19 inch one with the same pixel pitch, but to no avail. Is this as good as it gets for the monitor?

Note: When suggesting monitors to me, they must be an LCD or TFT type, and they must cost LESS than the Dell monitor, and have better stats.

Also, I've decided that I'm going to sell my entire system, but a price has yet to be determined. Any takers? xd

Note: My system is:
An Asus SK8V with an AMD Althon FX53, 1GB of Mushkin HiPerf registered/ECC RAM, an SB Audigy Gamer, a RADEON 9800 Pro, a Sony 42x/16x DVD Player, a Plextor 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD+R, a big a** case with a 430W PSU from Antec. I'm just posting this to let any potential buyers here know that it's high end, and it's not going to be cheap. You have your choice of Windows 2000/XP Pro, and a multitude of HDDs to choose from... I can get a 200GB WD SATA for only 120USD, too...

May I ask why no winamp?

winamp = the suck, perhaps?

@ Catsoupy: Nah. I want to avoid iTunes. I'm looking for a video/audio player type thing (not sure if iTunes does both).

@ Arethic: I don't like using Winamp, and for whatever reason, when I try to play large video files on it, I get a strange squelching noise... And the latest and greatest from Winamp seems to give me more issues than WMP...

@ Celia: that player, while neat, doesn't seem to play video... sad

Are there any comercial apps?

Actually, there -is- a plugin that lets you play video in Sonique. VLC is better though.
